Quentin Tarantino Reaffirms Retirement After Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

“I mean, most directors’ last films are f***ing lousy.”

Quentin Tarantino yet again confirmed his stance on making another film after his 2019 blockbuster hit “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood”.

Any cinephile will remember the historical moment of seeing two of Hollywood’s biggest stars: the 46-year-old actor Leonardo DiCaprio and the 57-year-old actor Brad Pitt, acting alongside each other for the first time and gave fans the iconic duo of Rick Dalton and Cliff Booth.

Fans also got to see the “Suicide Squad” star Margot Robbie’s take on the late actor Sharon Tate, whose storyline was displayed parallel to Rick and Cliff’s plot.

The Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie starrer earned a whopping $357.4 million worldwide.

While Quentin Tarantino added yet another hit to his collection of great gems with “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood,” he stated back in December 2020 that he plans on retiring after the success of the film that gained two Academy Awards.

But hopes remained high among fans, wishing for the director to change his mind. But things are still not looking up as Tarantino reaffirmed his stance of retirement.

Why Quentin Tarantino is not making another film?

The iconic director recently explained his decision of retiring after “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” on the Pure Cinema Podcast.

The 58-year-old may be a believer of superstitions, as he stated that:

“I mean, most directors’ last films are f–king lousy,” he explained. “It’s making me think that maybe I should not make another movie because I could be really, really happy with dropping the mic on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”

He has also talked about this tradition of movie directors who try out their odds in the film industry.

“Most guys have horrible last movies. Usually their worst movies are their last movies. And that’s the case for most of the Golden Age directors that ended up making their last movies in the late ’60s and the ’70s, then that ended up being the case for most of the New Hollywood directors who made their last movies in the late ’80s and the ’90s.”

But it has just been two years since Quentin’s last film came out, so we might hopefully see him change his mind when the director gets blessed with another brilliant idea for a film.
