Rebel Wilson Gets Candid In A New Photo About Her 75-Pound Weight Loss

‘It’s never too late.’

Rebel Wilson opens up about her weight loss journey with fans. During her “year of health” in 2020, she shed roughly 60 pounds by entirely overhauling her diet and workout routines. Since then, Rebel Wilson has been embracing her weight loss by posting pictures of her slim figure. However, her most recent Instagram picture is a reminiscence, as well as a remark, from the Australian actress on a time when she was at her “most unhealthiest.”

Rebel is seen beside tennis legend Novak Djokovic in the post, which is rather hazy. He has his arm around her, and she is beaming and holding a tennis racket.

“Okay so I know that I normally post flattering photos of myself…but found this old photo in my emails and was like: whoa! I remember this was when I was at my most unhealthiest—being overweight and indulging way too much with junk food. Using food to numb my emotions,” she captioned the photo on Wednesday.

She also mentioned that her father died of a heart attack around the time of the photograph, saying, “It was such a sad time.”

The Pitch Perfect actress continued, “I didn’t think highly of myself and wasn’t valuing myself how I should have. It’s interesting that I’m still smiling and still trying to be active—this was taken at a charity tennis tournament event (ps @djokernole is such a nice guy)—despite being in so much pain.”

Wilson, who previously said that her 2020 fitness drive was inspired by her goal to better her chances of having a child, finished the post on a positive one saying she’s “proud” of what she’s accomplished. She also gave advice and help to anyone who was “struggling with weight or body issues or emotional eating.”

“I look back now at that girl and am so proud of what she’s become and achieved. And just wanted to send out some encouragement to everyone out there struggling with weight or body issues or emotional eating. I feel you. I know what it’s like. But it’s never too late to start improving yourself and trying to be the best version of YOU possible. It’s not a race and it’s not a competition — it’s about respecting yourself and doing what’s best for YOU. So if you’re out there and reading this today, I just wanted to say: Keep smiling and keep trying to be active! Love you guys,” she concluded.

Rebel Wilson previously admitted to People that she “was probably eating 3,000 calories most days” before embarking on her weight loss journey. However, over the previous year and a half, she has learnt to reduce her carb intake and increase her protein intake, while still allowing for occasional indulgences.

Wilson told followers in November that she’d reached her target weight (about 165 pounds), but that her fitness quest was “not about a weight number, it’s about being healthy.”
