Rebel Wilson’s weight loss journey is nothing short of inspirational. 2020 has been her “Year of Health”, as she calls it, and while the year may be coming to an end, Rebel plans to stick to her current regime and to shed some more pounds.
The Pitch Perfect actress opened up about her drastic transformation in the latest episode of the Drew Barrymore Show. She admitted how she had an epiphany as she turned 40 and realized that she needs to focus on her health.
“Drew, for the last few years I’ve been theming my years, so I had the Year Of Fun, last year I had the Year Of Love,” Rebel began. “This year I’m like, “It’s going to be the Year Of Health,” because I turned 40 this year in March and I never really focused on my health which was probably obvious.”
It was the stress that came with being an actress that made Rebel indulge so much. “I was going all around the world, jet setting everywhere and eating a ton of sugar that was kind of my vice,” she said.
“I think what I mainly suffered from was emotional eating and dealing with the stress of becoming famous internationally,” she added. “There is a lot of stress that comes with it and I guess my way of dealing with it was just like eating donuts.”
Rebel Wilson’s ‘holistic’ weight loss transformation
As a part of her weight loss regime, Rebel Wilson did not only focus on nutrition and exercise, but also on the emotional aspect of it.
“So I was working on the mental side of things of why was I doing that and why was I not valuing myself and having better self-worth,” the actress explained on the show. “And then, also on the nutritional side my diet was mainly all carbs, which are delicious, but for my body type I needed to eat more protein.”
And this is how Rebel Wilson went from being ‘Fat Amy’ to ‘Fit Amy’. “So I lost Drew, I think it’s like 40 pounds this year so far and I want to lose a few more.” she went on.
That said, Rebel doesn’t intend on becoming a size-zero and totally loves her curves. “I love my curves and stuff, I don’t think I’ll ever go too skinny but I feel so much healthier,” she said.
Not only health-wise, but Rebel Wilson seems to be in a good place in her life in other ways too. “I feel like I really have come into my own now and not just with health but with my career.”
The 40-year-old said she “feels more in control” now. “I get to produce movies now which is amazing and kind of have more control of the content. I just feel like everything seems to be coming together, maybe I’m a late bloomer or something but I’m slowly getting it together.”
Now if that’s not inspiring, then what is?
