Safaree Says Marriage Makes Things Way More Serious Than It Has To Be

And it continues!

Safaree and Erica Mena are currently fighting for a custody battle for their children

Safaree and his estranged wife Erica Mena are currently going through a legal battle for their divorce, and during this time, each of them has come up with a lot of things to say. The couple announced their split in May, just a few weeks after they announced Mena’s pregnancy with their second baby. Soon after that, the couple started calling each other out publically, be it about the problems during their marriage or after their split. Mena even asked for primary physical custody of their firstborn, daughter Safire, however, she was ready to share legal joint custody with her then-husband.

Safaree recently appeared on an interview for 94.5 Atlanta with host Yung Joc, where the 40-year-old rapper talked about his highly controversial trip to Jamaica, and about the current state of his relationship and family.

“I think marriage just makes everything way more technical,” he said. “It does. I feel like when you get to live as like boyfriend and girlfriend, like grown man real talk. I know it may sound childish and immature but it’s like, marriage I just feel like it makes everything way more serious than it needs to be.”

However, this is not the first time that Safaree has spoken something negative about marriage.

Back in February, the rapper tweeted, “I mean this from the bottom of my heart getting married was 1 of my BIGGEST mistakes and it will never happen again. I’m walking away before I End up in jail over some dumb s**t. Nobody is worth my freedom!!!.” The tweet was deleted later.

Continuing with his interview, Samuels further said that being in a public eye is not easy on relationships. “And I know there are some people who are like ‘Oh I’ve been married for 20, 30 years’ alright cool, that’s great, that’s y’all,” he said. “We live in a different era now and especially with this era of social media and people letting it really affect what they do on the daily, it’s not the same, especially being in the public eye.”

Well looks like he is not the only one who is moving on. His estranged wife Erica Mena, who gave birth to their second child last month, has recently uploaded a picture on her IG account with a shady caption. “Fumbling the bag doesn’t always mean money. Y’all fumble valuable people too, ” she wrote in the caption, which has made people doubt that it must be about Safaree. The ‘Love & Hip Hop’ star blamed her husband for ignoring their newborn and cheating on her with Kaylin Garcia just a few days after their son’s birth, however, Garcia denied it.

Coming back to Safaree’s interview, during which he picked up some random questions out of a hat, one of those questions read, “Have you ever listened to a Nicki Minaj song while having s**?” The rapper did not even read the whole question and instantly replied, “that’s not a good question. That woman is married with a brand new baby…God Bless, ok!”

Samuels and Minaj have previously dated each other for over a decade.
