Scarlett Johansson’s Terror of Tower movie is going to be a blast!
Scarlett Johansson is venturing out into the world of Disney once again with the new Tower of Terror movie, Collider reports. The actress is known for her popular Disney and Marvel superhero film Black Widow.
Tower of Terror is Disney’s third attempt at basing a movie on an actual ride present in the majestic theme park loved by children and adults of all ages. Disney has already paved the way for this kind of films through movies like, ‘Heels of Pirates Of The Caribbean’ and the upcoming ‘Jungle Cruise’.
Scarlett Johansson is set to produce Tower of Terror via her company These Pictures alongside Jonathan Lia. The script is being written by Toy Story 4 director and Inside Out writer Josh Cooley. No official director has been announced for the project. The details of the plot haven’t been released either.
A little bit on the actual Terror of Tower theme park ride
The Tower of Terror ride at Disney’s amusement park is a popular attraction for visitors. It is also renowned as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror since it is based on Rod Serling’s anthology legendary television series, The Twilight Zone. The series takes place in the fictional Hollywood Tower Hotel in Hollywood, California.
According to the backstory, the riders are placed in a hotel elevator where people have disappeared many years ago while being under the influence of something supernatural.
There was a movie on it before as well!
However, Scarlett Johansson is not the first one to bring the Tower of Terror ride to the screen though. In 1997, the theme park attraction was turned into a television movie, starring Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst. It was the first time Disney tried to turn a popular ride into a feature film, leading the way for the current ones.
The original movie was partly shot at the actual amusement park ride in Orlando and the rest was filmed on a stage in Hollywood, California. This movie, however, had no connection to Rod Serling’s masterpiece.
Disney’s recent ventures
