Selena Gomez’s kidney transplant which was recently mocked in the Saved By The Bell Reboot and became a heated topic over Twitter, which led to the show’s network, Peacock, issuing an apology. But That is not enough for Gomez’s best friend and her life-saver, Francia Raísa.
Episode 6 of Saved By The Bell Reboot’s first season, “Teen-Line” showed students of Bayside Highschool gossiping over who the person was that donated their organ for Selena Gomez’s kidney transplant which she had to get done after a complication from her battle with Lupus.
“I know for a fact that Selena Gomez’s kidney donor was Justin Bieber’s mom,” says one of the characters. “God I wish that I had my phone so I could prove it.”
“Prove what? That you’re an idiot,” replies the other student. “It was Demi Lovato’s kidney. They’re best friends, like you and I were.”
And the last draw, which was when the words “Does Selena Gomez even have a kidney?” were written on a wall behind two students who were talking in a scene.
In response, Peacock had issued an apology where they stated that it “was never our intention to make light of Selena’s health,” and even donated to Selena Gomez Fund for Lupus Research at USC.
But this wasn’t enough for the person who actually donated her kidney to Selena Gomez and her bestie, Francia Raísa as she took to her Twitter to Tweet that although she appreciated Peacock’s apology, it missed out on a point, as she stated that: “Appreciate the apology but let’s not forget about the donors that potentially felt offended and dismissed from the spray paint written on the wall,”
Francia Raísa decided to help her bestie during her time of need and to both of their luck, she was compatible to do the same, so both of them had their life-changing experience together. After Selena Gomez’s kidney transplant, both her and Francia Raísa took to their twitter to share their experience with their fans who were awaiting the truth.
With Selena stating that “There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raísa,” Gomez said. “She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”
