Gigi Hadid recently shared a series of photos from different places on Instagram with the caption “past month dump”. In one of those photos was an adorable black-and-white photo of Gigi’s sister, Bella Hadid holding her niece, Khai Hadid Malik, in the air. The photo was taken near a window overlooking New York City.
This is one of the few photos that Gigi has posted of her daughter, Khai. Earlier this July, she stated in a lengthy Twitter image post that she doesn’t want people- even fan accounts and paparazzi- posting photos of Khai without blurring her face-
“I write this all to say: to the Paparazzi, press, and beloved fan accounts, you know we have never intentionally shared our daughters face on social media. Our wish is that she can choose to share herself with the world when she comes of age, and that she can live as normal of a childhood as possible, without worrying about a public image that she has not chosen.”
“It would mean the world to us, as we take our daughter to see and explore NYC and the world, if you would PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE blur her face out of the images, if and when she is caught on camera.”
I know it’s an extra effort – but as a new mom, I just want the best for my baby, as all parents do… and I hope this can continue the conversation to protect minors in the media, even if they come from a public family”
The kind and heartful request in the Twitter post wasn’t the only time Gigi Hadid had expressed the desire to protect the privacy of her daughter, Khai. Gigi stressed on the issue earlier this year in February during an interview-
“I have friends who are public figures and that’s how they’ve gone about it, and I see their kids really blossom in a different way.”
Gigi’s sister Bella Hadid also had her say about the topic through a phone call. In the very same interview, Bella said –
“I think she (Gigi) wants to be real online, but until her child wants to be in the spotlight and can make the decision herself, she doesn’t want to put her in that position.”
Gigi Hadid and her husband, Zayn Malik welcomed their 10-month-old daughter, Khai Hadid Malik, into this world on September 21, 2020.
