Steve Bing Dead: Producer And Elizabeth Hurley’s Ex Commits Suicide

The L.A. police is investigating whether it was a suicide or not

Business mogul, Hollywood film financier, philanthropist, and also actress Elizabeth Hurley’s ex, Steve Bing, who also holds credit as writer of films like the 2003 film Kangaroo Jack, has died at the age of 55 on 22nd June.

As per reports, Steve Bing committed suicide by jumping from his luxury apartment, situated on the 27th floor in Century City, California, around 1 pm ET. Currently, the Los Angeles police department is investigating Bing’s death to find out whether he actually committed suicide.

As the police department refused to identify the body as that of Steve Bing (but the description of the body found fits the producer), a Los Angeles County Coroner spokesperson also confirmed that in a reported suicide, a man was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:10 p.m. The final determination for a cause of death and identification of the deceased is currently pending.

Steve Bing was a certified Hollywood magnate

Bing tried his hands in various Hollywood projects- from co-writing the feature film Kangaroo Jack, being the executive producer on films like Get Carter, Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World, Youth in Revolt, Every Breath, and Rock the Kasbah, to financing Tom Hanks’ The Polar Express. He was also on board for 2007’s Beowulf and Martin Scorsese’s Rolling Stone concert film Shine a Light as their financier.

Steve Bing was also the chairman of Shangri-La Entertainment, under which he recently produced 2017’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle

He was also known for being an influential political donor and philanthropist

He had once pledged a $30 million legacy gift to the Motion Picture & Television Fund. He contributed nearly $50 million to an oil production tax, contributed close to $10 million to former President Bill Clinton’s foundation, and even financed Clinton flying to North Korea in 2009 to negotiate for the release of two American journalists, Euna Lee and Laura Ling.

“For years Steve Bing has been one of the most philanthropic and generous people in our industry,” Jeffrey Katzenberg said at the time. “He has also been one of the most loyal supporters of the MPTF through both the good and challenging times. Now with this amazing contribution he puts us another step closer to securing our long-term goals.”

Bing fathered two children with his two ex-girlfriends- actress Elizabeth Hurley and former tennis player Lisa Bonder

In 2001, he was facing two separate paternity cases as he claimed that he was neither Elizabeth Hurley’s son, Damian’s father nor did he father Lisa Bonder’s daughter, Kira.

But two separate DNA tests proved that his claims were false. Both Damian and Kira are thus entitled to their grandfather Dr. Peter Bing’s trust.
