Yellowstone just announced two Hollywood legends as its cast members for the prequel and we couldn’t be more excited! Paramount+ made the announcement that Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford are all set to star in 1932 (working title), which is the second installment of how Dutton came into being.
A little bit on the Yellowstone prequel
However, the streaming platform provided no other information on the roles of the actors in the Yellowstone prequel directed by Taylor Sheridan. They only revealed a limited amount of info on the whole deal, saying that “the next story will introduce a new generation of the Dutton family and explore the early twentieth century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition, and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home.”
It is all set to release in December of this year and is being produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions. This latest Yellowstone prequel follows behind 1883, the one-off prequel which starred Tim McGraw and Faith Hill as James and Margaret Dutton. It also starred Sam Elliott, LaMonica Garrett and Isabel May and became the most-watched series on Paramount+.
John Linson, Art Linson, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari and Ben Richardson will serve as executive producers of the spin-off series.
The original series is getting season 5!
The original series is also returning for a fifth season which has just begun its production. This doesn’t come as out of the ordinary since the fourth season broke all records. According to reports, it garnered an average of 11 million total viewers and also received its first Screen Actors Guild Award and Producers Guild Awards nominations. The series stars Kevin Costner as John Dutton.
A little bit on Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren
The show will mark Harrison Ford’s first appearance on a scripted TV show since his cameo role in a 1993 episode of ABC’s “The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.” The star hasn’t quite been into acting in TV shows as a whole. On the contrary, Helen Mirren rose to her fame from playing the role of no-nonsense police detective Jane Tennant in the British drama series “Prime Suspect.” The show commenced in 1991 and ran for seven seasons. Therefore, she is not an alien to acting for the TV.
