The Ellen DeGeneres Show Suffers Daytime Emmys Snub In Final Season

It still won a few other nominations though!

It seems like The Ellen DeGeneres Show won’t be taking home an Emmy this time after all as the popular talk show series has suffered a massive Daytime Emmys snub in its finale season!

Why did The Ellen DeGeneres Show suffer a Daytime Emmys Snub?

The popular show hosted by the 64-year-old media personality Ellen DeGeneres hasn’t received a nomination for the Daytime Emmys’ Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show, marking the first time in 18 years that this happened. According to reports, DeGeneres herself was snubbed from the Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host category.

Till now, the nominees for the Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show are The Drew Barrymore Show, Hot Ones, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Live with Kelly and Ryan, and Today Show with Hoda & Jenna. Similarly, the nominated hosts remain to be Drew Barrymore, Kelly Clarkson, Today‘s Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush-Hager, and Live‘s Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest.

Although The Ellen DeGeneres Show suffered a disastrous Daytime Emmys snub this year in its respective category, it did win two nominations for writing and set design.

Ellen DeGeneres decided to end her popular chat show in 2021 due to various controversies surrounding complaints against its toxic workplace from a number of people who were once involved with it. Warner Media later investigated and unearthed evidence of harassment, racist comments and microaggressions that led to executive producers Ed Glavin and Kevin Leman and co-executive producer Jonathan Norman getting fired.

However, despite all the scandals, The Ellen DeGeneres Show did manage to bag a nomination in the Best Entertainment Talk Show category. According to EW, DeGeneres has not included herself for Best Entertainment Talk Show Host “in years.”

Did it receive any other nominations?

In spite of The Ellen DeGenerous show suffering the Daytime Emmys snub, the host herself has managed to score two nominations. According to reports, the show will be up against Articulate with Jim Cotter, Start-Up, Wildlife Nation, and Drew Barrymore for the Outstanding Writing Team for a Daytime Non-Fiction Program award. The TV host and comedian was also nominated in the Outstanding Art Direction/Set Decoration/Scenic Design field against Kelly Clarkson, Tamron Hall, The View, and The Young and The Restless.

You can catch the Daytime Emmys on June 24 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+. It will be broadcast by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
