The Former ‘Bachelor’ Fame Colton Underwood Comes Out As Gay

Another revelation on GMA!

Colton Underwood knew he was gay since childhood

On the pre-recorded episode of “Good Morning America” that aired on Wednesday, the ‘Bachelor’ alum Colton Underwood announced that he is gay. Underwood talked to the host of the show, Robin Roberts, about the struggles of dealing with his se*****ty. He said, “Obviously this year’s been a lot for a lot of people, and it’s probably made a lot of people look themselves in the mirror and figure out who they are or what they’ve been running from or putting off in their lives. And for me, I’ve ran from myself for a long time, I’ve hated myself for a long time, and I’m gay,”

Colton shared that he has known about his se*****ty since he was 6 years old “I’ve known that I’ve been different since the age of six. I couldn’t process it and I couldn’t put my finger on what it was until high school my freshman year when I knew I was gay.”

Colton Underwood revealed that he was scared to announce to the world that he is gay, he did a lot of thinking on the matter during the quarantine period and also talked about having “suicidal thoughts” due to this. Colton said, “I would have rather died than say, ‘I’m gay,’ and I think that was sort of my wakeup call. There was a moment in L.A. that I woke up and I didn’t think I was going to wake up. I didn’t have the intentions of waking up and I did. I think for me that was my wakeup call of this is your life. Take back control.”

Colton Underwood also shared that now he does not have any negative thoughts on being gay and so he is now happy, healthy, and in a better place. “I’m emotional in such a good, happy, positive way. I’m the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been in my life and that means the world to me,” he further said, “I got to a place in my personal life that was dark and bad and I can list a bunch of different things, but they’d all be excuses.”

Underwood also talked about his experience in the reality show “The Bachelor”, in which he had participated in the 14th season and was also announced to be one of the competitors in the 23rd season. For the women that competed for him on the show he certainly had something to say, ” But I also at the same time, I can sit here and say, ‘I’m sorry’ to all those women. I can also sit here and say, ‘Thank you,’ because without them and without The Bachelor franchise, I don’t know that this would have ever came out.”
