Tom Hiddleston’s Gender In Loki Determined As Fluid By Marvel

A strategic Marvel Marketing Move!

The God of mischief might not hold a label to the binary gender norms. On Sunday, June 6, Loki’s official account posted a short teaser of the upcoming series on their social media platform, which made Pride month more special for the Marvel fans. The teaser revealed MCU’s character Loki’s gender as fluid for the very first time. You might miss this very minute detail between the dialogues of Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson. But if you see carefully, the TVA case files of Loki say his gender to be fluid in the s– column.

This is not the first time that this has been brought to light. In 2014 the Marvel comics revealed Loki’s gender to be fluid when Odin referred to him as “my son and my daughter”.

We all know that Loki has the ability to shapeshift into any individual. Hence this should be no surprise that the character doesn’t check the binary gender box. Loki is the brother of the Norse thunder god, Thor, and he is the youngest son of Odin. He has never been an official Avenger, but the character had dotted some major events in the MCU timeline.

Is Marvel Marketing Loki For His Gender Fluidity?

Given that the pride month and the premiering of the series might be a coincidence. But the production houses of Marvel and Disney + Studios have definitely used it well to their advantage. They have used the classic old technique of minute clues to reveal the truth about the god of the mischief. This clue has led the fans to determine Loki’s gender to be fluid. Hence, appealing to the larger LGBTQ+ group who are socially active during the pride month. This might be another great marketing strategy by Marvel that could lead to the series success.

Michael Waldron, who is the creator and executive producer of the series Loki, has also acknowledged the gender fluidity of the character. He wrote on his Twitter, “MCU #Loki finally being cononically under the trans umbrella makes me as a trans person feel so valid. This is why representation is so important. Loki being gender fluid is a big step in the right direction for positive LGBTQ+ representation in popular media. Happy #Pride,” with a pride flag icon.

Loki series is all set to be premiered on June 9. With the success of WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we hope that this will also break the charts and take the fans on another thrilling journey. Loki’s cast includes Tom Hiddleston as the lead character Loki, Owen Wilson playing Agent Mobius, Gugu Mbatha as Raw’s Judge Renslayer, Wunmu Mosaku in the role of TVA hunter B-15, Sophia Di Martino, and Richard E. Grant in undisclosed roles.
