Tom Holland has proved, time and again, that he doesn’t need superpowers or an Iron Spider suit to win us over. We saw Holland’s acting prowess in films like 2016’s Edge Of Winter, 2017’s The Current War alongside his MCU co-star, Benedict Cumberbatch, and quite frankly, we can’t seem to have enough of the young actor!
Thankfully, Tom Holland is all pumped up to try different roles and has a hefty slate of films that are going to release in 2020 and 2021:
It is the prequel to the popular PlayStation adventure game series of the same name, directed by Ruben Fleischer (Venom), and will feature Tom Holland as the treasure hunter, Nathan Drake with actor Mark Wahlberg as Victor “Sully” Sullivan, an American fortune seeker who acts as Drake’s mentor and father figure.
Reportedly serving as an origin story for both the characters, Uncharted is currently ongoing production and is slated to hit theatres on 16th July 2021.
- The Devil All The Time
Dropping on Netflix on 16th September 2020, The Devil All The Time will see Tom Holland as young Arvin Russel striving to save himself and his family as evil forces converge while dealing with “sinister characters”- Robert Pattinson as an unholy preacher, a twisted couple (Jason Clarke and Riley Keough), and the town’s crooked sheriff (Sebastian Stan). The star-studded treat will also feature Bill Skarsgård, Mia Wasikowska, Harry Melling, Haley Bennett, and Pokey LaFarge in significant roles.
- Chaos Walking
Based on Patrick Ness’s novel, The Knife of Never Letting Go, the sci-fi film Chaos Walking will star Tom Holland as Todd Hewitt living on a futuristic planet, New World, where a pathogen killed all women, leaving its survivors with the ability to hear Noise- the thoughts of every other person which eventually drives them mad. On a quest to find the cure, he meets Viola Eade (Daisy Ridley)- the first woman he has ever seen, in whose vicinity he stops hearing the Noise, giving him hope that he can save his race from going extinct with madness.
Chaos Walking is set to roll out in theaters on January 21, 2021.
Holland will play the character of an Army medic with PTSD in the upcoming crime-drama film, where he will become addicted to opioids. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo who, Cherry also stars Ciara Bravo, Bill Skarsgård, and Jack Reynor. Though the film wrapped up in January 2020, it is yet to get a release date.
- The yet-untitled Spider-man 3
This one is going to be a 2021 Christmas treat, with a release date of 17th December 2021 and will deal with the ramifications that the sudden twist at the end of Spider-man: Far From Home must have triggered as the dying Mysterio had revealed to the world that Peter Parker is Spider-man.
