Ye West Has Reportedly Dropped Out Of His Headlining Coachella Festival

Sad news for Kanye West fans!

Kanye “Ye” West has pulled out of Coachella Festival, 2022, where he was supposed to perform a headlining set, TMZ has confirmed. The 44-year-old rapper will no longer be performing on the two Sundays (April 17 and 24) when his set was due to take place. The festival will be moving ahead with performances from Doja Cat, Maneskin and FINNEAS on that night.

Why did Ye drop out of Coachella 2022?

The announcement from Kanye West’s team came just one day after the rapper was awarded two Grammys for Best Rap Song (“Jail”) and Best Melodic Rap Performance (“Hurricane”). Although he was also nominated for another award in the category of Album of the Year, he did not attend the ceremony which took place on Sunday, April 3.

One of his representatives also told People magazine that even though he was nominated for a lot of awards, he was banned from performing at the award show due to his concerning online activities. Ye’s sudden decision to drop out of the Coachella music festival may be in the light of something similar, although the actual reason has not yet been confirmed.

Travis Scott won’t be joining him either

Travis Scott, who was supposed to join Ye West on the Coachella set, has also been opted out of the performance. The 30-year-old rapper was initially booked to perform at Coachella this year, but that idea too was dropped by the festival organizers after the Astroworld tragedy took place. Although a fan petition was raised to bring him back, it was to no avail.

Kanye West’s public meltdown

As for Kanye West, the rapper has been very quiet since his Instagram expulsion for 24 hours last month. The rapper’s Instagram got taken down due to his racist comments against comedian Trevor Noah. And indeed, the last few months have been quite excruciating for the Donda hit-maker. After his split from ex-wife Kim Kardashian, the musician had been constantly harassing her and her current beau Pete Davidson online.

The rapper also made a claymation music video for his song “Eazy” where he can be seen abducting the SNL star and violently sabotaging his body. After receiving backlash over this, West took to Instagram to defend his music video by calling it “art”.

What has he been up to lately?

The rapper was also spotted attending his son Saint’s soccer game with Kardashian and their daughter North on March 27. That was the last time he was spotted publicly. According to a People source, “he looked very happy” while attending the match with his children.
