Zac Efron Expresses His Desire To Be A Part Of The MCU

We want him as the next Human Torch!

Zac Efron, the 34-year-old High School Musical star opened up about how he is ready to take on an MCU role in a recent interview with ExtraTV. When asked if he would like to play the role of a superhero, the star revealed that he is open to the idea.

“Gosh, you know what, I love the Marvel universe,” he said in the interview. “I’ve been a fan of Marvel since I started walking. So, if the right character comes along, and they want me to jump in, I would jump at the opportunity… We’ll manifest it,” he added.

What role could Zac Efron potentially play in the MCU?

The actor has come a long way ever since his High School Musical days. From working with Robert De Niro in adult comedy Dirty Grandpa to starring in the theatrical The Greatest Showman with X-Men star Hugh Jackman, the actor has surely made a place for himself in the star-studded world of Hollywood. And right now, he is all set to show off his skills in sci-fi thriller movie Firestarter. The movie is an adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name.

At the same time, fans have been waiting patiently for Zac Efron to debut in the MCU. And with the recent interview, it seems like there is hope for that after all. According to popular gossip, the actor has always been in line as the potential actor for Johnny Storm, aka Human Torch, in Fantastic Four. But it is yet to be seen whether he actually does join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A little bit on his latest film Firestarter

In his latest movie, Firestarter, the actor plays the role of the father of Charlie who is played by Ryan Kiera Armstrong. According to the synopsis of the movie, “a young girl develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon.”

The movie comes from the production houses Universal, Blumhouse and director Keith Thomas. It has been produced by Jason Blum and Academy Award® winner Akiva Goldsman. The late Martha De Laurentiis has executive produced the film. She had previously worked on the 1984 adaptation of Firestarter starring a young Drew Barrymore. Goldsman and Blum will reunite in this movie, previously working on the Paranormal Activity franchise together.

Whether Zac Efron will join MCU is up to time to tell. For now, we can definitely enjoy Firestarter and see the actor in action once again!
