Zendaya Pays Tribute To Beyonce With Her Stunning BET Awards 2021 Dress

Don’t we love both of them?

Zendaya stunned at the BET Awards 2021, wearing a dress inspired by the queen – Beyonce.

The theme of this year’s ceremony was “Year of the Black Woman”, and Zendaya made sure to honor one of the most legendary Black women. The Euphoria star wore a Versace dress that was similar to the one Beyonce wore for the award ceremony more than ten years ago.

At the BET Awards 2003, Bey wore a purple mini-dress — that featured vibrant green straps and a light purple strap around the back. Recreating the look, Zendaya wore a gown that had the same color scheme and detailing.

The dresses were exactly the same till the thighs. The only noticeable difference in the look was the length of Zendaya’s dress.

As for her accessories, the actress kept it simple and wore small pearl earrings. She tied her hair in a straight, low ponytail.

Zendaya wore the dress Beyonce wore when she had just made her debut as a solo artist

It was in 2002-03 that Beyonce made her debut as a solo artist and released her first solo album. At the BET Awards 2003, she performed her breakout single Crazy in Love for the first time with now-husband Jay-Z.

Zendaya’s BET Awards 2021 dress thus paid homage to queen Bey and to a significant time in her life.

On Instagram, Z’s stylist, Law Roach, shared a slow-motion video of her sashaying in the gorgeous purple dress. “Paying homage to the Queen Beyoncé wearing @versace SS2003,” he wrote. “get you a stylist with a ARCHIVE!!!!”

He added the song Crazy in Love to the post.

Leaving no doubt about the inspiration behind her dress, the Spider-Man actress also shared a photo and a video of Beyonce from the 2003 award ceremony.

The short clips showed Bey performing her single — with full energy along with Jay-Z.

Zendaya is nominated for Best Actress at BET Awards 2021

Zendaya was in the running for the Best Actress trophy at the BET Awards 2021. She was nominated alongside stars like Viola Davis, Andra Day, and Issa Rae.

Her nomination wasn’t for any specific film. But it’s likely that it was keeping in mind her recent film, Malcolm & Marie.

The 24-year-old starred opposite John David Washington in the movie, which was directed by her Euphoria creator Sam Levinson.
