Elon Musk Weighs In On Johnny Depp And Amber Heard’s Trial

Johnny Depp alleged that Elon Musk and Amber Heard dated during his marriage to Heard.

Elon Musk took to Twitter on Friday night to chime in on Johnny Depp and Amber Heard‘s future following the six-week trial, which brought in a lot of court room drama.

“I hope they both move on. At their best, they are each incredible,” Musk said in response to podcaster Lex Fridman’s tweet who offered his takeaway from the defamation trial via Twitter, sharing five bullet points about fame, love, lawyers, lying, and wine.

“My takeaways from Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial: 1. Fame is one hell of a drug (for some). 2. Psychiatrists & lawyers come in drastically varying levels of skill. 3. Lying to millions of people is something humans are capable of. 4. Love can be messy. 5. Mega pint of wine,” wrote Fridman.

During the trial, Johnny Depp alleged that Elon Musk and Amber Heard dated during his marriage to Heard. The Tesla CEO and Heard dated on and off after her split with Depp in 2016 until 2018, according to a Musk representative.

In the lawsuit obtained by PEOPLE, Depp claimed Heard received “late night” visits from billionaire businessman Musk at the L.A. penthouse Depp and Heard shared while Depp was out of the country. Depp went on to claim that Musk was granted access to his home the same night Heard “presented her battered face to the public.” His lawsuit alleges Heard’s domestic violence allegations against Depp were false and “an elaborate hoax.”

A rep for Musk maintained that “Elon and Amber didn’t start seeing each other until May 2016, and even then, it was infrequent. Their relationship didn’t become romantic until sometime later.” During the trial Musk’s name has cropped up several times. While text exchanges of Depp revealed that the actor wasn’t a fan of the billionaire, and nicknamed him ‘mollusk’.

Depp is suing Heard for $50 million in damages for defamation over a December 2018 op-ed she wrote about coming forward with abuse allegations, though she didn’t mention him by name in the article. In turn, Heard is countersuing him for defamation, seeking $100 million in damages.
