Bonjour from the city of love!
While we await the specific plot details let us take you through the story we know that’s going to unwrap so far.
Creator Darren Star revealed in an interview with Oprah Daily that the same cast will feature in the second installment of the Netflix hit (including Lucas Bravo), He also hinted at what’s in store for Emily.
“She’s going to be more of a part of the fabric of the world she’s living in,” he explained. “She’ll be more of a resident of the city… She’ll have her feet on the ground a little more. She’s making a life there.”
There are also some new editions expected in the cast like British actor Lucien Laviscount, French actor Arnaud Binard, and Tony-nominated playwright Jeremy O. Harris.
The end of season 1 left us with a hopeful romance between Emily and Gabriel as he cancels his plans to leave Paris and Emily also wins her social media marketing job back from the effortlessly fashionable Sylvie. But that could also mean a potential love triangle chaos between Emily, Gabriel, and Camille (Gabriel’s girlfriend).
“I honestly don’t know if Camille knows about what’s going on with Gabriel,” Collins told British Vogue. “That voicemail in the finale threw me off. And it’s interesting because, in the series, there are tonnes of little moments where you’re like, ‘… Does Camille like Emily?’ You can’t really get a vibe, and I feel like that ambiguity is what keeps Emily intrigued. I think anyone in that position would be like, you’re my friend, but now I have this romantic connection [with Gabriel], and I don’t want to hurt you, but… Oh my God! So, you know what, it’s really confusing. I feel like the next season will only create more love triangle drama, although maybe Emily will have a little bit of a stronger handle on the situation… Or maybe not.”
For Mindy, Emily’s first friend in Paris, the next installment of Emily in Paris hints at “merging of the worlds.”
During an interview with E! News Ashley Park shared her hopes.
“What’s obvious is that she’s working at this drag club, [she’s] a singer, an MC now, so I’m sure there will be more music for Mindy… Also, she moved in with Emily in that last episode—we were so excited because it was like, ‘Oh, Mindy is in Gabriel and Emily’s world now.’” Sylvie will likely also be subjected to Mindy’s presence, with Park noting that Mindy “hasn’t met any of the people at [Savoir] yet,” and the next season will likely see “some merging of the worlds.”
The French Fashion
Coming to our most favorite part, Emily in Paris Season 2 is going to have an exciting colorful wardrobe. If season one left you flattered watch out for patterned mini-dresses with printed bucket hats, boxy coats paired with scarves and giant sunglasses, and bikinis styled with clashing capes.
When is season 2 expected?
On August 5, Collins confirmed on Instagram that filming for the second season had wrapped. However, Netflix has yet to confirm an official release date for the second installment of Emily in Paris which is likely to drop in late 2021.
