Drake is having quite a busy month. The American rapper is making headlines for various reasons that has us excited.
For starters, Drake’s much-delayed Certified Lover Boy is finally on the way. Drake graced SiriusXM’s Sound 42’s Fri Yiy Friday radio show as a special guest where he revealed that CLB is 100 percent finished.
“Album’s cooked,” Drake began. “Looking forward to delivering it to you. I hope everybody in the world is blessed. I hope everybody has their drinks, everyone’s locked in. Good vibes and good energy for this weekend. And for the rest of you heathens, I wanna tell you, ’cause I know you’re listening, don’t trouble people’s kids, don’t bother people’s soul. OVO, we aim for that head. We don’t aim to please. Certified Lover Boy on the way. And that’s for anyone in the way.”
Certified Lovery Boy will serve as Drake’s sixth studio album. His first five LPs all debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Drake x Smiley
Drake has been known to lend out hit records and when the 6 God helped the latest OVO Sound signee, Smiley, he earned his first Billboard Hot 100 placement with “Over the Top.” Not only that, but Drake also handles the chorus on the Tay Keith-produced track.
On the record, Drake handles chorus duties where he brags about his Nike deal and why they continue to pay him the big bucks on lucrative deals.
“Nike don’t pay me to tell you, ‘Just do it’/They pay me to show you I’ll do it again,” he raps.
In an interview with Complex, Smiley shared how Drake has kept tabs on him since 2014.
“So like, he heard my songs from when I had my first wave. A long time ago, it was 2014 or something like that. He heard those songs and I guess he paid close attention. And then when I took a break and I came back, I dropped this one song called ‘Hit’ with my other guys on the song,” said Smiley.
“That was the first time I’d ever seen that Drake knew who I was or anything; one of his boys posted my song, and he commented under it and said, ‘Smiley = G.O.A.T.’ And then that’s when I was like, ‘Oh f***, this guy knows who I am and shit.’ So then, probably a couple of days later, he follow me on Insta,” he added.
Drake x Nike
Apart from the world of music, Drake also has other ventures up his sleeves. The rapper has a brand new line with Nike called NOCTA, which will be getting its very own sneaker collab.
This collaboration has been teased for quite a while now and it has been dubbed the “Nike Hot Step Air Terra.” Last week, we got a glimpse of the “White/Chrome” Hot Step Air Terra from Drake and his NOCTA sub-label with Nike comprising of leather details and some metallic highlights.
Drake himself gave us our first look at the Hot Step Air Terra when he wore it in his “Laugh Now Cry Later” music video.
The model is slated to drop in the Fall for $150 USD. Since then, he has been spotted in the shoe multiple times on Instagram, including snakeskin and black colorways.
