Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis is earning a cool million dollars for his role in the comedy series, which is doing well for Apple TV+. The streaming service is rewarding the team with a pay raise and for Sudeikis’ additional roles as head writer and producer, as well as creator fees.
Per reports, Jason Sudeikis scored a $1 million-per-episode deal with Apple to renew the feel-good hit for a third season which is up from between $250,000 and $300,000 per episode during the first two seasons of the Apple TV+ show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Along with Sudeikis, other actors and writers on the show have also seen significant pay bumps as part of a season three-push, the report said. However, luck has turned their way, and the talks have resulted in key members of the cast, including Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Juno Temple, and Brendan Hunt, all bagging raises that take them from $50,000 to $75,000 per episode to the six-digit range.
Jason Sudeikis’ pay bump follows a wildly successful first two seasons of the comedy series, with the season two premiere bringing in more viewers than any original Apple TV+ show to date, the studio said.
The show has garnered 20 Emmy nominations, including outstanding comedy series and a pair of writing mentions. Sudeikis is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, marking the first Emmy nod of his career. The show is also up for the Outstanding Comedy Series.
Producers Apple TV+ and Warner Bros TV are currently negotiating who will cover the show’s rising costs, licensing fees, and linear rights, according to THR.
Earlier this year, Sudeikis won individual awards at the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild ceremonies for his work on the comedy. After virtually accepting his first-ever Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy, he joked that his 7-year-old son, Otis, and 4-year-old daughter, Daisy, should have been more impressed.
“Their reaction is completely selfish,” Sudeikis teased in February. “The way they want to celebrate is by having, you know, Coco Pops cereal — or Cocoa Puffs. … It’ll have nothing to do with me because … they’re selfish little demons. I can’t believe they’re not going to give me any respect.”
While Sudeikis’ professional life is booming, on the personal front too, he seems to be having a gala time. Jason Sudeikis, 45, was spotted with his rumored girlfriend Keeley Hazell, 34, in Los Angeles for a sunshine stroll.
The hike comes after his ex Olivia Wilde, 37, was seen dancing and admiring boyfriend Harry Styles, 27, on stage during his Love on Tour shows.
However, a source told Page Six on Sunday that Jason Sudeikis and Keeley Hazell are not in a relationship. “They have been friends for seven to eight years,” the insider said.
Keeley Hazell appeared on Sudeikis’ Apple TV+ show, “Ted Lasso,” in 2020. The actors have since sparked speculation, hinting at a potential romance. Since Sudeikis and the mother of his two kids, Olivia Wilde, broke off their seven-year engagement last November, the rumor mill believed Sudeikis has moved on with Hazell.
