‘Black Widow’ Facts, Rumors, And Theories: Is Natasha Romanoff Alive?!

Her backstory will be depicted “in a completely unexpected way”

For years fans of the badass superspy, Black Widow a.k.a. Natasha Romanoff had been literally begging the Marvel overlords to create a solo movie where the Oscar-nominated actress, Scarlett Johansson, would assume center stage, instead of being the usual supporting player (though she still stole every scene she has been in). Our wishes were granted with the announcement of Black Widow, which will be released on 6th November 2020, a bit later than it was originally intended to given the coronavirus pandemic.

Well, till the main course arrive, here are some plot details, spoiler, and rumors about the upcoming MCU masterpiece for you to snack upon:

  • Think you have got Natasha Romanoff story all figured out from all the hints about her backstory dropped throughout the MCU? Well, think again

According to Kevin Feige even though they’ve “hinted at [Natasha Romanoff’s backstory] throughout the other films” in Black Widow they will “approach it in a completely unexpected way”. “She’s been up to a lot all along – in between when we see her in the other movies – some of which will be surprising to people”, he said

  • Black Widow will see Natasha Romanoff in a “dark place where she’s got no one to call and nowhere to go”.

“She’s really grappling with her own self. When something huge explodes and all the pieces are landing, you have that moment of stillness where you don’t know what to do next — that’s the moment that she’s in,” Scarlett Johansson shared. “In that moment, you actually have to face yourself.”

“The film talks about a lot of tough stuff. It deals with a lot of trauma and pain,” said Johansson.

This is on par with what Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth were paid for in both Infinity War and Captain America: Civil War and Thor: Ragnarok respectively.

  • The red in Natasha’s “ledger” that Loki referenced back in 2012 in The Avengers will be explored in Black Widow

While taunting Natasha as he languished in captivity, he mentioned the red in her ‘ledger’and  “Drakov’s daughter” as a terrible deed from her past that she is still guilty about. As per the cast details, the 2020 film will feature Drakov as a significant character and will be played by the Emmy-award winning actor, Ray Winstone.

  • Is it possible that Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff is alive?!

In the trailer of Black Widow, there is a particular scene where Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) is seen on an operating table with a line drawn around her face. Well, rumor is that she will be switching her face for Natasha’s, which would mean that the Black Widow we saw dying in Avengers: Endgame was actually Yelena with Natasha’s face!

It is apparent from the trailers, which have stressed quite a lot, that Yelena and Natasha have similar fighting styles and mirror each other’s movements. Is it possible that the uncanny similarity exists for a reason?
