After a long time, Hollywood’s favorite couple, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, stepped out on August 3 for the New York City premiere of Reynolds’s new film Free Guy, making a stunning return to the red carpet.
What left the netizens in for a surprise was Blake Lively, who drew massive attention at her husband’s, Ryan Reynolds, premiere. Dressed in a sparkly pink cutout Prabal Gurung dress and Lorraine Schwartz jewels, Lively stole the show with her styling sensibilities. It wasn’t just her dress that caught the attention of paparazzi and the audience present at the venue, but every detail of her ensemble left the onlookers mesmerized.
Lively is famously her own stylist. In March 2018, she spoke to WWD about what it’s like styling herself for events. “It’s a lot of work [but] I mean, it’s not hard in that we all dress ourselves every morning,” she said.
“So once you have the clothes, you just pick out what to wear like any other human being does,” she also said. “But it’s easier because you have access to clothes and so it’s not that hard. The hard part is going through all the fashion shows and screenshotting all the looks you like and calling them in. I have an assistant who helps in calling in the looks. But a lot of it is I have relationships with the designers.”
Putting her impeccable styling skills to use, Blake Lively made sure every detail counts.
Apart from her sequence cut-out dress, Blake Lively’s nails drew a lot of attention. She painted them in a gorgeous smoky lavender ombré and embellished them with real dried flowers.
Lively’s longtime nail artist, Elle, told Glamour: “We planned this look about a week ago after having multiple FaceTimes and sending each other mood boards back and forth. Blake had sent me pictures of the dress, which was a sequined Prabal Gurung, and she wanted a look that was sweet but edgy. We usually draw inspiration from the movie promos and try to match the theme, but this time we decided that didn’t work. We went off the dress instead, opting for pressed flowers paired with a more rock-and-roll style. I love that it was innocent with a wild edge, breaking away from what she usually does.”
The diva also took to Instagram Stories to point out all the detail that the fans might have missed. Her high ponytail featured braided-in silver and diamond chains by Lorraine Schwartz. To add a touch of glam, makeup artist Kristofer Buckle did a subtly smoky eye, natural brows, tons of bronzer, and a nude lip using BITE Beauty’s Power Move Soft Matte Lipstick in shades Taramind and Fig.
Blake also revealed her little fashion secret on Instagram Stories. She lifted up her hem to reveal the platform Chuck Taylors on her feet.
“Thank you to everyone who made my prom night 2021 possible,” Lively joked on Instagram Stories.
Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds for his big day wore a tan Brunello Cucinelli suit for the occasion.
In Free Guy, Reynolds plays a man who realizes he is a background character in a video game called Free City.
