Captain America 4 Will Not Include Chris Evans’ Return As Steve Rogers

Its not the end of the world though!

The upcoming Captain America 4 movie will not feature Chris Evans returning as the iconic hero.

Captain America 4 is currently being developed by the head writer and creator of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier – Malcolm Spellman. However, it will not see the return of Chris Evans as Captain America and instead will feature Anthony Mackie playing Sam Wilson as the new Captain; Mackie has already made his debut for Sam Wilson as the new Captain America in the season finale of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

It was reported earlier this year in January by Deadline that Chris Evans was close to signing a deal which would secure his return as Steve Rogers in a future Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

Mackie’s character Sam Wilson took over the role of the new Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier with a new costume that was designed by the people of Wakanda. He also took upon the responsibility of carrying the vibranium shield given to him by the aged Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) at the end of the last Avengers movie Avengers: Endgame.

Regardless of the reports suggesting a possible return for Chris Evans as Steve Rogers aka Captain America, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige would shut down the rumors, he said

“I rarely answer no to anything anymore because things are always surprising me with what happens, but that rumor, I think, was dispelled rather quickly by the man himself.”

Hilariously enough, Anthony Mackie chimed in, saying he had no idea what was going on with Chris Evans-

“I was actually fishing (when the report came out). When I came back in to get some shrimp, the dude at the dock was like, ‘Hey, man! Did you see this s—?!”

“I’ve been going to the same guy to get my bait for like 20 years and all of a sudden now he’s a fan. He had no idea who I was. Now he’s a fan.

“Marvel’s so secretive, and it’s so ridiculous about what we know and what we don’t know, I have no idea. The dude at the dock selling me shrimp knows more about what’s going on with Marvel than I do.”

Financially though, a Chris Evans return cannot be ruled out, the three Captain America movies in which he has starred in have grossed a combined $2.2 billion at the global box office. So after all, Chris Evans reprising the role of Steve Rogers is totally plausible.
