Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt reunite for the Superhero Comedy ‘Ball And Chain’
After witnessing Disney’s The Jungle Cruise’s trailer, many had been smitten by the chemistry between the fresh pair of actress Emily Blunt and Jumanji actor, Dwayne Johnson, yearning to see them together. Well, the pandemic may have put a hold on film’s release but there is no stopping the Hollywood visionaries from planning the future and catering to their audience exactly what they want- yes! Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt will be working together again! They will be reuniting for a new superhero comedy movie, Ball And Chain, from Oscar-nominated The Big Sick co-writer Emily V. Gordon.
Ball and Chain will be an adaptation of the four-part comic book, published in 1999, of the same name by Scott Lobdell and will portray Johnson and Blunt as an often quarreling couple, Edgar and Mallory Bulson, who are about to separate when they get superpowers from a mysterious meteor. The catch? These powers only work if they are together, which means they will have to work hard to put aside their differences to save the world when the time comes and maybe save their marriage too!
The comic will be adapted by Gordon, with Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt also producing the project. Johnson, under his Seven Bucks banner, will be producing the film with co-founder Dany Garcia, production president Hiram Garcia, and producer Kevin Misher, who has previously worked with Johnson on Fighting With My Family.
While no concrete plans of which studio or platform Ball and Chain will be supported by, The Hollywood Reporter has shared that Netflix is the likely choice.
For those craving more of Dwayne Johnson’s, last seen in Jumanji: The Next Level, onscreen charisma will next watch him in Netflix action movie Red Notice opposite Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds. Other projects in his kitty include the delayed DC feature Black Adam.
The Jungle Cruise is not the only film of Emily Blunt that got postponed as the second installment of the horror thriller, A Quiet Place (2008), originally scheduled to release on 8th March 2020, was to a September release as well.
So, now with The Jungle Cruise’s release date pushed back a year owing to the coronavirus pandemic, at least we have the solace of Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt starrer Ball And Chain. And if Netflix does get the deal, chances are that it will be shot and released on the platform much sooner!
