Upcoming film Borderlands got the latest entrant with Jamie Lee Curtis joining the exciting star cast alongside Kevin Hart and Cate Blanchett.
The iconic star’s entry onboard has obviously made the makers very excited! Borderlands Director Eli Roth recently expressed his excitement, after the latest addition to the movie’s star cast in the form of Jamie Lee Curtis, in a statement saying: “Working with the iconic Jamie Lee Curtis has been a life long dream of mine, and I am so excited for her to bring her humor, warmth, and brilliance to the role of Tannis.”
Lionsgate Motion Pictures Group President, Nathan Kahane, also expressed his utter exhilaration saying: “The kind of talent we’ve been able to bring together for Borderlands is a testament to the incredible script that Craig wrote and Eli’s vision for Pandora.”
He further added: “Jamie is unique in that her characters have depth and gravitas, but are also always hugely entertaining — she commands the screen. At this point, Jamie is like family to us after bringing so much to Knives Out and hosting last summer’s ‘Lionsgate Live’ fundraiser to help theater workers, [so] we could not be more thrilled to be working with her again.”
The character Jamie Lee Curtis is about to play:
Jamie Lee Curtis is all set to play the character named Dr. Patricia Tannis, an archeologist on planet Pandora, who might possess the key to find the vault filled with ancient alien technology. Her character has a complicated history with ‘Lilith’ played by Cate Blanchett.
Jamie Lee Curtis’s Tannis is not one of the main “Vault Hunters” but is an important ally and assists the protagonists in their adventurous quest to find the vault with valuable alien artifacts hidden somewhere in Pandora.
About other Cast Members: Kevin Hart and Cate Blanchett
The adaptation already has a glistening star cast, with A-listers like Kevin Hart and Cate Blanchett. The Night School star, Kevin Hart, was roped in earlier this year by the makers to play ‘Roland’, an ex-soldier-turned-mercenary, who fights the enemies in the video games.
Cate Blanchett’s character, Lilith, is one of the main protagonists in the game franchise and she is, in fact, one of only six women in the galaxy that belong to the powerful ‘siren’ class who possess incredible, superhuman powers.
For those who don’t know, Borderlands is the adaptation of the popular Lionsgate video game franchise of the same name, which was first launched by Gearbox Software in 2009. The movie is being written by Craig Mazin, who previously wrote for HBO’s Chernobyl, directed by Eli Roth, and produced by Arad Productions alongside Erik Feig of Picturestart.
