Jamie Foxx Joins Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 3 As The Villain Electro…Wait, What!

Can we expect a Sinister Six team up?

When the Marvel Studios brought up its own, more likeable, version of the web-slinger with Tom Holland starring in as the titular superhero, it seemed obvious that they wanted to distance themselves away from the disasters Sony had cooked up in the past. It brought up brand new villains from the comics, opting to not add classic Spidey antagonists who have featured in past iterations of the masked hero’s adventures. But not anymore, not if reports of actor Jamie Foxx reprising his iconic villain Electro in the upcoming Spider-Man 3 are anything go by.

The character was last seen in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-man 2 by Marc Webb. Not only was the film the last nail in the coffin for Andrew Garfield’s webbed vigilante version, but also Jamie Foxx’s Electro was not well-received. But as The Hollywood Reporter’s report the Project Power actor is currently “in final talks” to return as Electro in the yet-untitled Spider-Man 3 and will play antagonist to Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.

With Jamie Foxx returning as Electro, we now have two villains in total who will be targeting Spider in Spider-man 3. It has been previously rumoured that Kraven the Hunter is also been added to the story. But given the major turns, the MCU appears to be taking, the prospect of even more villains ailing the neighbourhood superhero isn’t that impossible. Spider-Man: Far From Home ended with a dying Mysterio putting out Peter’s real identity and pitching him on the radar of every baddie out there.

As the trailer of WandaVision has confirmed that the reality of MCU will be taking a serious hit after the Scarlet Witch’s psyche crumbles, it is possible that she will tear down the wall separating several universes. This will allow villains from other universes with different Spider-Men like Jamie Foxx’s Electro to torment Tom Holland’s webbed hero set in the MCU and possibly lead to Sinister Six team-up. All this chaos will nicely set the stage for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

With Jamie Foxx’s addition to Spider-Man 3, every live-action adaptation of the superhero will be referenced– it was J..K Simmons’ Jonah Jameson from the Sam Raimi series starring Tobey Maguire who broadcasted Peter’s identity to the world. Well, now that the DCEU is all about bringing all its heroes full circle with the introduction of the multiverse it was only obvious that the Marvel Studios wasn’t far behind.

Spider-Man 3 is all set to begin production as early as 2021 and is currently gunning for a theatrical release on 17th December 2021.
