Lashana Lynch Is The New Face Of 007 As She Replaces James Bond

MI6 agent to 007. Glow up goals!

The name James bond has had many faces over the years but only one number defines him and now it’s a her as Nomi played by Lashana Lynch gets an upgrade from MI6 to a 007 tag, in the upcoming Bond movie, No Time To Die. Speculations regarding the same had surfaced last year and the news of Lynch taking the Bond’s ‘’007’’ status had spread like wildfire which incited a series of rude comments from unhappy people. Although Lynch had chosen to lay low, she never denied the rumours up until now when she has finally opened up in a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar about the new development and it’s negative consequences she had to face over the internet. ‘’I am one Black woman – if it were another Black woman cast in the role, it would have been the same conversation, she would have got the same attacks, the same abuse,’’ the 32-year-old actress said admitting the fact that the backlash affected her because of which she had deleted social media for a while. ‘’I just have to remind myself that the conversation is happening and that I’m a part of something that will be very, very revolutionary”, she further added on a positive note.

No time to die will be the 25th official movie of the bond franchise which was to release in November this year but owing to Covid19 pandemic, was postponed twice and is now scheduled to hit the theatres in April 2021. Lashana Lynch plays the role of a smart and highly athletic Nomi, an MI6 agent before she takes up the title of 007, replacing James Bond enacted by Daniel Craig. Interestingly, Craig will appear as Bond for the fifth and final time following his decision to retire from the franchise after 15 years embracing his iconic role as James Bond. The trailer of the movie released two months ago featuring few action sequences of the star packed movie. Directed by Cary Joji Fukanaga, it stars Rami Malek as a mysterious antagonist, Safin, Ana De Armas as Paloma , a CIA agent and ‘Bond Girl’. Meanwhile, Lea Seydoux and Christopher Waltz as Dr Madeline Swann and Blofed respectively will reprise their roles from the movie’s prequel, Spectre.

Lashana Lynch will be the first black woman to appear as a pure 007 agent and looking at the trailers and posters, you can say she’s going to do a pretty good job stepping into the shoes of her predecessor, James Bond. The British actress rose to fame playing the role of Rosaline Capulet in the ABC historical drama series, Still Star Crossed following which she appeared as a fighter pilot, Maria Rambeau in MCU’s Captain Marvel.
