Sebastian Stan Promises To Be Bucky As Long As Marvel ‘Keeps Calling’

Don’t you dare retire his character Marvel!

Of all the things Marvel Studios should be praised when it comes to the MCU, the one amazing point that gets the most praise is the actors that were so perfectly chosen to play their respective. We can’t imagine someone else playing Iron Man other than Robert Downey Jr., someone replacing Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow, a better Ant-Man than Paul Rudd, and of course, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes a.k.a. The Winter Soldier. And while we sadly bid farewell to Iron Man and will be seeing Natassha for the last time in Black Widow, we can rest assured that Sebastian Stan will keep playing the beloved Bucky Barnes as long as Marvel wants to keep the character going.

Sebastian Stan as Sergeant James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes debuted in the MCU in 2011 with Captain America: The First Avenger. He returned in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as a villain, but by the end, he had considerably redeemed himself enough that when he returned in Civil War, we were hoping for him to be saved. He emerged as a true hero in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame where he fought against Thanos and defeated him along with the rest of the Avengers.

But in all the above films, Sebastian Stan remained a supporting character. It was only with the release of the Disney+ series, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier that he was established as a lead character, who will be on equal footing with the rest of the Avengers. But no matter in what capacity he appears in, Stan has assured that he will like to play Bucky Barnes for as long as possible.

“As long as they’ll keep calling, I’m there. I don’t know. I get old, too. Like everyone in the world, I age! So I don’t know what that means. Maybe it doesn’t mean anything! I have no idea. I’m just going for the ride,” he shared in a chat with Variety

While Marvel is yet to willingly out an actor because they are too old to play their character, recently Dave Bautista shared that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 will be the last time we will see his character, as at 54, he is getting too old to maintain the muscular build of the shirtless Drax. But Sebastian Stan has no such plans and is hoping that he ends up playing Bucky for decades.

“May I be so lucky. It’s really quite wild, it really is. A lot of people on TV, there are shows that have gone on for so many seasons, Friends, I mean, there’s a lot of where…you get to go and play a character for such a long period of time. It’s like gaining a family member. You gain, like, a brother or something in this case for me. You get to see this character again and again, and then you’re always growing up, and they’re sort of growing up with you in a weird way,” he added.
