Netflix has finally dropped the much-awaited trailer for The Devil All The Time and lord! It’s going to be a thrilling ride with Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson.
The trailer starts with the scene of Arvin Russell’s, played by Tom Holland, birthday celebrations where he is gifted with his father’s pistol that has been brought back from the war to which he replies with a tad of sarcasm “That’s the best present I ever got. Thank you.” And the trailer rolls!
Robert Pattinson who plays the role of Preston Teagardin, a shady and unholy preacher or as Tom Holland’s Character would say, “…As bad as they got on the radio”, is one dubious character as the trailer portrays. He goes about throwing some lectures about righteousness and how the various ‘delusions’ lead people towards sin.
The Devil All The Time’s Trailer manages to portray the story and at the same leaves behind a tingle of anticipation as to what is going to unfold in the next moment. Not just Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson, the trailer is packed with stellar performances from Jason Clarke, Riley Keough, Sebastian Stan, Eliza Scanlen, Bill Skarsgård, Mia Wasikowska, Harry Melling, and Haley Bennett. As evident from the trailer, the film is going to have that gore and gothic tinge to it.
About working with director Antonio Campos, Tom Holland was simply full of praise, “I was really eager to work with Antonio because his previous films that I’ve seen are very raw,” said Holland. Further elaborating on his character he said, “I guess it was the challenge of doing a different accent, playing the rural kid, a period film, a new director. Everything ticked the boxes for me.”
Both Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson have very different acting styles according to director Campos. Speaking about Robert Pattinson he said, “You have to trust the person’s going to do something good and be comfortable letting go of some of your control as a director,” Campos continued. “That’s very much how I approached Rob. There are takes that are absolutely insane and don’t make it into the movie. Rob would just go.”
About Holland he further added on, “Tom’s process is so methodical and thoughtful and sensitive,” Campos said. “He’s a really kind person.”
Holland and Pattinson have previously collaborated on the project, The Lost City of Z.
It will be a thrilling wait to see how the actors are going to floor the audience given the intriguing trailer of The Devil All The Time and a star studded ensemble cast.
