The New Elvis Trailer Shows A Different Side To The King Of Rock And Roll

The latest Elvis trailer is here and we couldn’t be more excited! The Baz Luhrmann directed biopic about the legendary musician got its official premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. However, they also startled the fans with a brand-new trailer that garnered a lot of attention as soon as it came out.

What do you get to know from the new Elvis trailer?

The movie delves deep into the rebellious and more scandalous side of the rock and roll star whose character is being portrayed by Austin Butler. The movie will also reveal how the icon’s manager Tom Parker played by Tom Hanks used the hype to make him into a world-renowned star.

In the Elvis trailer, we see Butler in the role of the main protagonist shimmy his finger on stage, fueling the fire of controversy. Soon enough, his stage performances successfully gathered a lot of attention, especially his hip movements which became his trademark later on. Although a lot of people wanted to stop his overtly explicit style of dancing, it was almost impossible to stop his vibrant energy from flowing out.

“In that moment, Elvis the Man was sacrificed,” narrates the character of Tom Parker in the Elvis trailer, as the iconic star takes the stage to a hollering audience.  “And Elvis the God was born,” he adds. The movie will span more than two decades and will throw light on the relationship between Presley and Parker. It will also chronicle the musician’s unexpected rise to fame amidst America’s rapidly morphing cultural landscape.

A little bit on the cast and personnel of the movie

Austin Butler delivered a phenomenal performance as the young musician, and according to reports, he won appraisal from those who once knew the star in real life.

Baz Luhrmann wrote Elvis alongside Sam Bromell, Craig Pearce, and Jeremy Doner. The movie also stars Olivia DeJonge as Priscilla Presley, Dacre Montgomery as Steve Binder, David Wenham as Hank Snow, and Kodi Smit-McPhee as singer-songwriter Jimmie Rodgers.

Riley Keough, Elvis Presley‘s granddaughter recently viewed the feature with Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley. During a discussion at the Cannes’ Women in Motion panel she talked about how watching her later grandfather’s life playing out on screen was a “very emotional experience.” She also said that she cried during it.

The movie hits the screen on June 24!
