Is Idris Elba Deadshot? But then what happened to Will Smith’s portrayal of the master marksman? Is John Cena playing the part of the Pacemaker? These and tons of other questions have haunted the waking moments of every fan who had been eagerly looking forward to DC notorious bad guys/superheroes to go on their next adventure in James Gunn’s much-hyped The Suicide Squad, all due to release in 2021. Though we are yet to get our hands on a trailer, the director finally debuted the cast list of The Suicide Squad along with some behind the scenes action at the film’s DC FanDome panel on 22nd August.
During the panel, writer/director James Gunn confessed that he never had as much fun making a film as he has had while shooting The Suicide Squad. He revealed that the studio is “overwhelmingly happy” with how things have been done differently from David Ayer’s 2016’s Suicide Squad and that post-production is currently underway before jumping on to what we had been waiting on all along- the revelation of who is playing what DC character in the upcoming film.
Margot Robbie will be seen reprising her role as the Queen of Chaos a.k.a. Harley Quinn, Viola Davis will back as Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney will be seen as Captain Boomerang and they will be joined by a brand new team of supervillains!

The one actor missing from the panel was Taika Waitito and the only character not revealed was King Shark. So, do we simply put two and two together and presume that Waititi is playing the character (at least voicing it) or is there some hidden twist that Gunn’s still has up his sleeves?
James Gunn also debuted behind the scene footage from The Suicide Squad which is majorly set as a “gritty 1970s war movie” as described by producer Peter Safran and combined with “the brilliance of James Gunn’s characters and comedy.” We get to see Captain Boomerang (Courtney) throwing his now-glowing iconic boomerangs while Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) looks pretty ecstatic.
And as James Gunn revealed, The Suicide Squad will serve its viewer with spiced up action and amazing special effects that will trump all the Marvel films combined!
