Timothee Chalamet is set to play Willy Wonka. The 25-year-old actor was seen filming scenes for the upcoming Wonka movie on Friday (December 17) at the Radcliff Camera Building at Oxford University in Oxford, United Kingdom.

Last month, Chalamet gave fans their first look at his character in the upcoming film, Wonka, looking handsome dressed in his red velvet coat and brown top hat. “The suspense is terrible, I hope it will last …🏭WONKA🍫,” he captioned the post.

In the new movie from Warner Bros. and the Roald Dahl Story Co., Chalamet plays a younger version of Willy Wonka, a fictional character created by author Roald Dahl.

Timothee arrived on set at Oxford University as he commenced filming for the prequel installment of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory on Thursday.

The actor could be seen at the Radcliffe Camera building for the musical which will focus on the young characters adventures, before he became a chocolatier. While shooting, the ‘Dune’ actor could be seen wearing a long back hooded coat with smart sand coloured trousers and tan lace-up boots. The film is directed by Paul King, who also directed the Paddington movies. Horrible Histories star Simon Faranby wrote the script alongside King.

Timothee is the third actor to portray Willy Wonka on screen following Gene Wilder in 1971’s Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory and Johnny Depp in Charlie & The Chocolate Factory in 2005.

The filming for the production was halted after one of the star’s tested positive for Covid-19 last month. According to The Sun, filming stopped for five days while the cast, including lead actor Timothée Chalamet were forced to self-isolate.

Wonka has a March 17, 2023 release date.
