Zack Snyder’s Justice League Will Explore The Mystery Of A Second Kryptonian On Earth

Who is it?

Ever since that subtle tease in 2013’s Man of Steel that hinted at the presence of another Kryptonian on Earth apart from Superman, DC fans have tirelessly debated whether it held any significance or was just a prop piece. And now Zack Snyder has confirmed that the “mystery” will be furthered extended in Snyder’s cut of Justice League.

The above-mentioned tease was seen in Man of Steel when Clark Kent comes to know that a Kryptonian Scout ship has been discovered in the Canadian Arctic. He manages to get a job at the discovery site and enters the ship to use the key left behind by Jor-El, his father, to activate the central computer and communicate with an artificial intelligence that gives him his Kryptonian uniform.

Unless you had been living under a rock for the last decade or so, it would have been hard to miss the hype around this particular scene as there is a glimpse of an open pod next to another pod that Clark cleans to find a shrunken, desiccated Kryptonian body inside. These scout ships had been commissioned by the Kryptonian Explorer Guild to explore and colonize new worlds countless centuries ago. While the craft crashed, an open pod means that someone got out and has been on Earth ever since.

While Zack Snyder is yet to reveal who was in the pod and if they are still on Earth, he has debunked theories in the past that the open pod was just a setup to introduce Kal-El’s cousin, Kara Zor-El a.k.a. Supergirl in future films, claiming that it was “something more.”

But now, years after Man of Steel, the debate has gained fresh excitement as the same scout ship containing the open pod appears in the recently released official teaser trailer of Justice League by Snyder.

After the trailer’s premiere, Snyder took to Vero to breakdown the trailer and answer questions of fans, before he touched upon the appearance of the scout ship and the mystery of the open pod in Man of Steel. He has assured that it is an obvious evidence that “someone clearly got out” alive from the ship and confirmed that this puzzle will be revisited in Justice League.

“If you study Man of Steel, and even in this movie, there’s a reference to the open sleeping (pod). Which is, when they walk by it on the scout ship when they’re bringing Superman’s body into — to bring it back to life, there’s a sequence where they’re kind of walking through that same hallway that Kal-El walked through when he first came into the scout ship. Next to that (pod), there’s an open (pod) that showed that someone clearly got out. Who that is, remains a mystery to this day, so we’ll see.”

So, who do you think it is going to be? Will the Snyder’s cut of {Justice League} answer this question because the 2017 version surely didn’t? Snyder’s Cut of Justice League is scheduled to release on HBO Max sometime in 2021.
