Camila Cabello, the 25-year-old singer recently performed at the opening of the UEFA 2022 Champions League Final at the Stade de France near Paris. However, her performance had quickly turned sour after thousands of raucous Liverpool and Real Madrid fans in attendance expressed their discontentment towards her by “booing” and also started singing the clubs’ anthem during her set.
What did Camila Cabello have to say regarding the UEFA fans’ bad behavior?
Shortly after finishing her set, the “Havana” hitmaker took to Twitter to call out these people for trying to ruin her performance by drowning out the sound of her nearly six-minute opener.
“Playing back our performance and I can’t believe people were singing their teams anthem so loud during our performance. Like my team and i worked tirelessly for so long to bring right vibes and give a good show,” wrote Camila Cabello regarding the disruptive behavior of the UEFA fans.
“Very rude but whatever. IM GLAD U GUYS LOVED IT!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥰🥰🥰,” she added in a follow-up tweet. She soon deleted both the tweets but many fans commented on the situation in response to photos shared by the “Don’t Go Yet” singer on Sunday Morning.
Fans’ reactions to it all
And it seemed like a lot of people were quite mesmerized by her performance which consisted of a mash-up of her three most popular songs, “Señorita,” “Havana” and “Bam Bam.” “LET’S F–KIN GOOO MAMA. THE PERFORMANCE WAS EVERYTHING AND MOREE,” wrote one user. However, others weren’t so keen on the performance. “It was a fairly s–t performance with all due respect,” wrote one of them.
Others tried to explain how European fans are different from Americans. “Just so you know. European sport fans are passionate. Many fans live for their clubs, its their lifestyle. Its not like USA where people come for the show. So your complaining was quite funny. Not your fault, but this doesn’t belong in Europe. Its all about atmosphere fans make,” commented one of them.
What happened on the day of the Champions League Final?
The fans also had a hard time entering the stadium on the day of the final. They were quite furious about the ticketing issues that left many of them standing outside the stadium. This caused the sports authorities to delay the match by 36 minutes after Liverpool fans struggled to enter the venue. The team has also called for an investigation after thousands of supporters were held outside with tear gas, pepper spray, batons and shields used to disperse fans.
However, it was Camila Cabello who had to bear the brunt of these UEFA fans’ frustrations as they jeered during her opening ceremony performance.
