Drake’s much-awaited sixth album, Certified Lover Boy, is finally out after more than two years after he began teasing fans about it. At 21 songs and nearly 90 minutes, it features exhilarating music with special guest spots. Here’s everything you need to know about Drake’s new album,
Drake’s gone all out with his latest album Certified Lover Boy, sharing the mic with 15 featured artists, according to the official tracklist. While many of the guests belong to the hip-hop gang like Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, he has also made room for Nigerian singer Tems.
Having Jay-Z on any list is a total win-win situation and Drake did just that. His track “Love All” is a reminder that there is no one like him.
Drake’s dig at Kanye
In one track, fans think Drake is calling out Kanye West after the Donda rapper apparently shared Drake’s Toronto address last month in a reported Instagram post that was later deleted. The song titled “7am On Bridle Path” seems to be referencing a neighborhood in Toronto where Drake owned a home.
“You know the fourth level of jealousy is called media / Isn’t that an ironic revelation? / Give that address to your driver, make it your destination / ‘Stead of just a post out of desperation,” read the lyrics.
He continues, “This me reaching the deepest state of my meditation / Why you over there trying to impress the nation?”
Way 2 Sexy
Drake’s “Way 2 Sexy” track, which features Young Thug and Future, shows Drake in a variety of different settings and costumes that jump from a gym to a beach to an animated grocery store, and feature Drake in a fat suit and a Rambo costume among other getups.
However, the star moment of the track is NBA star Kawhi Leonard appearing alongside the trio of rappers. At one point in the video, the audience is brought to a barren sand dune in a desert and standing there in white pants and a white button-up dancing alongside Drake, Future and Young Thug, is none other than Leonard.
While this guest appearance is classic Kawhi, it is a bit awkward.
Drake gives credit to R Kelly
As Drake fans dissect the lyrics and features on his 21-song album, Certified Lover Boy, Drizzy has also given a writing credit to R. Kelly. The disgraced R&B singer is acknowledged for his contribution to the track “TSU,” where Drake borrowed the introductory music from Kellz’s 23-year-old single, “Half on a Baby,” for the beginning of his own.
In the Bible
Another guest feature on Drake’s CLB is by Lil Durk that is receiving alot of praise from fans. In the track ‘In the Bible,’ Durk used his guest verse on the project to plug his girlfriends India Royale’s cosmetics company in a hilariously blatant fashion. Naturally, the internet was quick to eat it up.
“India Royale cosmetic, I’m just promoting my b***h/Drake song do a billion streams for sure, I’m just promoting her shit,” Durk raps on the song. Per reports, it only took 12 hours for the LP to become the all-time leader in single-day album streams on Apple Music.
Last but not the least, with the much-anticipated album, Drake has proved that he is the king. According to PEOPLE, Certified Lover Boy became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day on Friday. As a result, the Canadian singer will be the most streamed artist in a single day in 2021. To celebrate his amazing streaming accomplishment, the “Champagne Poetry” singer posted an Instagram picture of a billboard announcing his achievement.
