Grammy Nominations 2021: The Biggest Snubs And Surprises Of The Year

From The Weekend To BTS.

Grammy Nominations 2021 are out! but fans have found out that their favourite artists have not been nominated for their hard work, as Grammy snubs and surprises are through the roof for this pandemic year.

Let’s breakdown this fiasco that the Grammy Nominations 2021 have turned out to be-

The Weeknd

The year can be considered to be owned by the “Heartless” singer with his successful “After Hours” album which has proven to be his best work yet. With his hit single “Blinding Lights” reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100 on 4th of April and the song has stayed on the relevant charts for 51 weeks so far (currently on no.7). The Weeknd has yet another hit contender “Heartless” which kicked off his domination this year. But the Grammys Nominations 2021 have slept off on The Weeknd’s success as he has been nominated a grand total of 0 times! yes you read that right, Abel who is set to perform during the coveted half-time of Superbowl the Sunday after the Grammy’s has not been acknowledged at all for his Magnum Opus.

The Weekend obviously did not take the Grammy snubs kindly, as he took to his Twitter soon after The Grammy Nominations 2021 came out. “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency…”

Harry Styles

Harry Styles made a hit comeback after two years with the release of his album “Fine Line” which had great hits like “Watermelon Sugar”, “Adore You” which did great on Billboard Top 100 but Grammy Nominations have also snubbed Harry Styles as he has only been nominated in the non-major category of Best Pop Vocal Album. Harry has also been on the front page of Vogue for his stylish year

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber has also had a great year with his album “Changes” which had its hits from “Yummy” to “Intentions” and singles like “Holy”, but he did not make the cut for the main four nominations which are The Album, Record and Song of the Year and Best New Artist. Justin Bieber was instead only nominated alongside Harry Styles in Best Pop Vocal Album. Sadly for him his new single came out just a bit too late.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga had a great time this year with her new disco album “Chromatica” which has been a total sensation but to the disappointment of her and her fans, she was only nominated in with the other artists who are a part of the Grammy’s snubs in the Best Pop Vocal Album. While Dua Lipa who made a similar Disco album “Future Nostalgia” has been acknowledged by the Grammy’s in Album of the Year along with Record and Song of the Year nominations for the funky track “Don’t Start Now.”

In the Grammy’s surprises of the year, there are artists who have made it into the big 4 categories quite unexpectedly. Which Include-

Beyoncé

The 2021 Grammy’s can be declared to be owned by Beyoncé who has made it into a whopping 9 categories. The 24 time Grammy award winner, Beyoncé has been nominated in Record Of The Year for “Black Parade” and for her collab with Megan Thee Stallion in “Savage”, Song Of The Year for the same 2020 single, other than the 7 minor categories in which she has been nominated.

Coldplay

Another Grammy surprise has Coldplay, while the band is not new to the Grammy’s as they already have 7 Grammy’s in their bag, but this time they have surprisingly made it in Album of the Year for “Everyday Life” and for Best Recording Package. While their new album is up to their standard of performance but it did not get much hype.

BTS

This will definitely come as an expected surprise for BTS ARMY as the K-pop has been a total sensation with their first-ever English only single “Dynamite” which received a well-deserved place in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category as it has already dominated the billboard charts
