Gwen Stefani Thanks Blake Shelton For ‘Letting Me Ride Your Coattails’

“We’re so in love.”

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are having a great time since their marriage, which took place in July. The couple celebrated an incredible achievement in Nashville.

The 51-year-old No Doubt singer, Gwen Stefani, raved about her 45-year-old husband when she joined him at an event before a Nashville concert on Thursday, September 9. They were honored with a small party to recognize the chart-topping success of their duets, Nobody But You and Happy Anywhere.

“Blake Shelton, thank you for letting me ride your coattails all this time,” the mom-of-three said as she spoke to the crowd of industry folks and their fellow songwriters. “I truly am a fish out of water. I’m from Orange County, but I’m wearing cowboy boots for this. I am such a fan of songwriting and writers.”

She also shared that she “cried” when Blake asked her to duet on Happy Anywhere.

“When Blake asked me to be on ‘Happy Anywhere,’ I cried because I was so excited about it. The song is so ‘our song’ and we’re so in love and it really is the perfect way to describe us. When I heard ‘Nobody But You’ I was so blown away by the song I was jealous that I wasn’t on it.”

Shelton said they were initially nervous to release duets back-to-back because they weren’t sure country radio would support two in a row. But “Nobody But You” went to No. 1.

Blake joked that his wife may be the real secret to both of the songs hitting the top of the charts, and he quipped that he wanted to work with her more. “[We] were laughing earlier that we now know we have to put Gwen on every song I release from now on if we want it to work,” he said. “‘Austin’ (Shelton’s first No. 1 song) was 20 years ago this year. To think that 20 years later I would still be standing here [celebrating hit songs] is my dream come true, and it’s because of the songwriters in this town.”

Taking to social media the next day, Gwen also revealed the incredible news that Blake had been gifted a plaque from Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) celebrating 13 million RIAA Album Awards, and 52 million RIAA Singles.

Since their nuptials, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton has joined one another on stage multiple times to perform their songs “Nobody But You” and “Happy Anywhere,” which are duets they recorded together in the past few years. And as per reports by OK! they may soon tour together.

An Insider told OK! that performing those songs together on stage was just one part of their overall plan. The source said that “was actually floating a trial balloon” and that the couple actually wants to go on tour together soon like other country music stars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood and Faith Hill and Tim McGraw have in the past.

“These duos have made millions hitting the road together, and Shelton and Stefani believe the formula can work for them too,” the source told the outlet.
