Jonas Brothers And Their Relationships Inspired These Hit Songs!

Ex or not, who doesn’t take inspiration from the JoBros?

The Jonas Brothers were quite the coquets before settling down with their better halves. From dating their Disney co-stars to their fellow pop icons, the heartthrobs did it all. While they tried to keep their relationships on the hush, songs alluded to them gave it all away.

The stories of the Jonas Brothers’ failed romances have been well immortalized in these hit songs their exes wrote.

1. ‘7 Things’ by Miley Cryus

Who wasn’t obsessed with the idea of Miley Cyrus and Nick Jonas as a couple? With our favourite teen celebs dating, it seemed as if all was right in the world, until they called it quits.

While Nick Jonas was apparently quick to move on, music was Miley’s escape. That’s when she wrote ‘7 Things’. In the music video, Miley Cyrus can be seen wearing a dog tag which fans were sure was Nick Jonas’. Subtly throwing shade, are we?

Nick Jonas didn’t seem to mind it though, and was instead “flattered”. “I’ve heard that rumor, I’ve never directly heard that from Miley but she does wear a dog tag that I gave her when I was 14 [in the video],” Nick said on BBC Radio 1 in 2018.

“I was actually kind of flattered to be honest because it’s there forever and I know it’s about me.”

Well, maybe Nick’s cool with it because he ain’t no saint either! His song ‘Wedding Bells’ is most likely about Miley, who got engaged to Liam Hemsworth in 2012.

And oh, Nick was not so subtle with his insinuations. The lyrics of the song go “Cause if you recall our anniversary falls 11 nights into June”, and Nick and Miley met on this very date.

2. ‘I’m Sorry’ by Selena Gomez

When Nick Jonas’ first serious relationship went south, he turned to Wizards of Waverly Place star Selena Gomez. But all wasn’t well in paradise.

“My favorite song that I’ve written is called ‘I’m Sorry,’” Selena Gomez, said during an interview with TWIST magazine in 2008. “It’s about a boy I kind of fell for, but he couldn’t let his ex-girlfriend go, and it was really difficult.”

It’s funny how Miley wrote about Nick cheating on her with another, while Selena wrote about Nick being hung up on his ex (read Miley). We feel you Nick, feelings are never easy.

3. ‘Forever & Always’ by Taylor Swift

Joe Jonas, the most popular of the Jonas Brothers in their heyday, was quite famous among ladies too. He briefly dated Taylor Swift and their infamous break-up conversation was even shorter.

Now, if you know Taylor Swift, you know she was known for kissing and telling through her songs. And Joe’s 27 second-long phone call to break up hit her hard. Taylor released all her pent-up feelings with ‘Forever & Always’. The singer was also unabashedly vocal about the meaning of the song and the boy who inspired it.

4. ‘Flattery’ by Aly and AJ

We were today years old when we got to know that Aly and AJ too had written a song about one of the Jonas Brothers.

Spilling the tea more than a decade later, the sister duo admitted that ‘Flattery’ is very much about Joe Jonas. Joe reportedly dated AJ Michalka and the two were each other’s first kiss.

Shading exes in songs is quite the norm in the music bizz. After all, creativity stems from love (and hate) and the Jonas Brothers have inspired a few too many ladies.
