After months of teasing and dropping major hints, the Jonas Brothers have officially released two new songs- the highly anticipated Jonas brothers and Colombian singer Karol G collaboration, X, and Five More Minutes, a track they debuted at the 2020 Grammy Awards, on 15th May.
Jonas Brothers have been teasing their collab with Karol G for weeks now, triggering excitement in their eager fans to listen to X, which marks the first time the artists have worked together. A sizzling dance-pop number with catchy lyrics, X begins with sultry tunes of a guitar.
“She said, ‘ooh, ooh, ooh/ Kiss me like your ex is in the room-oom-oom,” the chorus crooned by the Jonas Brothers goes. “Don’t you be afraid of something new/If you play it right you could be that someone, that someone who won’t leave me lonely tonight.”
X has Karol G’s groovy lyrics in Spanish: “Caliente, te pongo caliente/No te de miedo vivir algo diferente/Las ganas no se equivocan/Pon to lengua en mi boca/Viva la vida loca”, with even Nick adding a little Spanish, when he sings about a chance meeting “by the pool, yeah, singing bailando.”
The Jonas Brothers and Karol G will also be performing their new song X on The Voice on 19th May during its two-hour finale airing at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
X is the second time that the Jonas Brothers have joined hands with a Latin artist- their 2019’s Runaway was in collab with Sebastian Yatra, Daddy Yankee, and Natti Natasha.
The Jonas Brothers also officially released another new song Five More Minutes
Joe Jonas, Nick Jonas, and Kevin Jonas performed Five More Minutes at the 2020 Grammy Awards back in January. Dressed in glittery outfits, the Jonas brothers revealed sang the love ballad to their respective wives– Danielle Jonas, Sophie Turner, and Priyanka Chopra. While fans loved the song and expected it to release soon, Five More Minutes had remained unreleased before its official release today.
The soft romantic track, implores someone you love to stay and spend more time with you with lyrics like “Give me five more minutes/Baby, I’m not finished loving you/I don’t wanna end it when we’re only just beginning/Give me five more minutes”.
“I think ‘Five More Minutes’ is one of my favorite songs in this body of work that we have,” Kevin Jonas had earlier shared. “It was written at our writing camp when we went away as a group with all of our friends and it’s just fantastic. It feels good, it’s an amazing song.”
