Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes gave their new collaborative single “Monster” a debut performance at the 2020 American Music Awards, finishing off an amazing performance of songs sung by Justin Bieber including some from his new untitled album with Shawn Mendes joining the party late.
Justin kicked off the main performance at the 2020 AMA’s by serenading the crowd with his new single “Lonely”, a team-up with record producer Benny Blanco, who himself played the piano for Justin behind him. Justin’s performance was also extraordinary as he was revealed to be surrounded by mirrors which added a nice touch to the performance.
Justin continued his medley of sad songs but this time twisting it up with “Holy” which he sang alongside Chance The Rapper, had a more positive and feel-good vibe compared to the previous song.
“Holy” is yet another new single from Justin Bieber’s upcoming sixth studio album (yet to be named), Justin sang amongst a collection of eye catching dancers supporting him with huge large Christian cross props hovering above the stage which made the performance an amazing and memorable experience.
As if the title of the new song “Holy” wasn’t enough, the Christian cross props that were used during the performance are reflective of Justin’s belief. Justin has described himself as a faithful follower of Christianity, even having been baptized 6 years ago in 2014 after a born again experience.
The AMA’s were yet to be crazed up, soon after Justin Bieber finished singing “Holy”, the performance continued right after the dancers disappeared and Shawn Mendes appeared on the stage, he was brought up to the stage on an elevator platform with an acoustic guitar. Soon Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes were sharing the same stage, capping off a memorable experience from Justin and making fans go absolutely wild as they sang their new duet single “Monster” from Shawn Mendes’s new and upcoming album Wonder.
The AMA 2020 song that Justin and Shawn sang, “Monster”, is the first ever collaboration between Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes, which is a song about the pressures and hardships that comes with the fame and glamour of stardom, as Mendes states: “It’s about how society can put celebrities up on a pedestal and watch them fall and it seems to be this entertainment thing. And it’s hard.”
The song “Monster” will be featured on Shawn’s upcoming album Wonder, which is set for release on December 4, 2020.
