Mariah Carey’s Christmas Special is all set to infuse the festive mood
Mariah Carey’s Christmas Special and the soundtrack will premiere on December 4 on Apple TV+. While it will be available on other streaming platforms on December 11.
The soundtrack album and a new music video titled ‘Oh Santa!’ will feature Mariah Carey along with Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson which will be distributed by Sony Music.
The Special will also feature Carey’s 25-year-old holiday classic, “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”
Apple TV+ describes it as an “innovative special that will combine music, dancing, and animation driven by a universally heartwarming story that brings the world together.” It further states, “The Special finds the world faced with a holiday cheer crisis, which the North Pole knows only one person can solve: Santa’s great friend, Mariah Carey. Combining musical performances, dynamic dancing, and groundbreaking animation, the undisputed Queen of Christmas jumps into action to create a holiday spectacular to make the whole world merry.”
Apple announced its collaboration with Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter Mariah Carey on August 31 this year. In an official statement, Apple said, “The event will be driven by a universally heartwarming story that brings the world together to enliven the Christmas spirit around the world.”
Mariah Carey’s Christmas Special is going to be a star-studded affair
The Special is said to be joined by Tiffany Haddish, Billy Eichner, Snoop Dogg, Jermaine Dupri, Misty Copeland, Mykal-Michelle Harris, Ariana Grande, and Jennifer Hudson. The special appearance will be made by Carey’s two-year-old twins, son Moroccan and daughter Monroe.
Mariah Carey is also an executive producer on the special along with Ian Steward, Raj Kapoor, and Ashley Edens for Done+ Dusted. The Special written by Caroline Fox will be directed by BAFTA award winner Hamish Hamilton and Oscar nominee and Golden Global award winner Roman Cappola.
In the trailer released on November 27, Friday, Tiffany Haddish is seen saying the following dialogue. “Twas the night before Christmas, and 2020 had been rough. So Santa decided the season couldn’t be merry without the one and only Mariah Carey.”
