Selena Gomez, the 29-year-old singer, recently got called out by her fans after she took a slight dig at Hailey Bieber in her recent TikTok video. She defended herself on Tuesday after getting called out for doing a make-up video after the 25-year-old supermodel did the same prior to this.
“This is why I believe in taking care of your mental health. Guys, no idea what I did but I really am sorry. Zero bad intention. Deleting soon,” she later commented on her video.
Why did fans think that Selena Gomez was berating Hailey Bieber?
The situation started after Justin Bieber’s wife took to her TikTok to post a “get ready with me” where she showed her fans the way he did her hair and make-up.
Shortly after this, the “Lose You to Love Me” singer took to her own Tik Tok account to post a video of her doing her skincare routine with Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” playing in the background. Fans thought the timing of the video was really weird and jumped to the conclusion that Selena Gomez was somehow trying to mock Hailey Bieber.
While Gomez herself never mentioned Hailey, fans quickly jumped to the comment section to point it out. “Lol I know who she’s referring to,” wrote one of them. “Wait.. is she trynna [sic] make fun of you know who” commented another. Gomez, however, turned off the comments of the video shortly after writing her apology.
How did the two stars deal with similar situations previously?
Social media trolls have been forever trying to start drama between the two women without any reason. However, both Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber, have tried to shut it all down time and again. In August last year, Bieber liked an Instagram post from Elle magazine that featured Gomez as the cover star. Previously in October 2019, Selena took the opportunity of her song “Look at Her Now”‘s success to point out the blatant misogyny that has been boiling in her fanbase.
“I am grateful for the response that the song is getting. I’m so grateful. However, I do not stand for women tearing women down,” she said back then. “I will never, ever be by that. So please be kind to everyone. It doesn’t matter what the situation is, if you’re my fan don’t be rude to anybody, please,” she continued.
“Don’t go off and say things that you just feel in the moment… Please, for me, know that that’s not my heart. My heart is only to release things that I feel — that are me, and that I’m proud of,” she added.
Justin Bieber’s wife is sick and tired of all the hate she gets
Last month too, Hailey took to her TikTok to call out similar behavior from internet trolls. “Leave me alone at this point. I’m minding my business. I don’t do anything; I don’t say anything. Leave me alone please,” she said. “Enough time has gone by where it’s valid to leave me alone. I beg of you, truly. That’s my only request. Leave me alone. Be miserable somewhere else. Please,” she added.
