News about Stranger Things Season 4 has been far and few in between ever since its production was delayed during the pandemic. Apart from the confirmation that David Harbour is reprising his role as Chief Hopper, we were mostly in the dark about what new horror the town of Hawkins and its inhabitants will face next. But series star Gaten Matarazzo has confirmed that not only is Stranger Things Season 4 going to maintain its streak of being scary, but it is also going to be the “scariest” season so far. *gulp*
Gaten Matarazzo is definitely our saviour as he has been sharing details about Stranger Things Season 4, like in an earlier interview with People, he dished details on how the filming is proceeding.
“It’s definitely a slower process than usual, which is really saying something because we take our sweet time making the show anyway,” Matarazzo shared. “So it’s not as steady-paced or as consistent as I think any of us would like it to be, but we do our best and we’re playing it by ear.”
And now, Matarazzo, who plays the goofy and endearing character of Dustin in the hit Netflix series, has spilled some crucial details about what Stranger Things Season 4 is going to be all about.
“I think most would probably say it’s the scariest [season] out of the previous three, which I love because it’s very fun to film,” he confessed in a chat with Us Weekly.
He went on to address the core detail of Stranger Things Season 4 trailer that still has fans pitching theories left and right– the appearance of Chief Hopper in what appears to a Russian base. Last we saw Hopper, he had apparently died saving Eleven and the people of Hawkins but looks like he didn’t die after all.
“I guess most of the cast had a pretty good idea that he might be making a return, but they weren’t too sure about it from the beginning,” he said. “By the time we had gotten to the table read [and] we had all started reading together, it had been pretty clear. But it was great to have it confirmed when we saw David there.”
Apart from Matarazzo, Stranger Things Season 4 will see other cast members reprising their fan-favourite roles- Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley, Priah Ferguson as Erica Sinclair, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, and Cara Buono as Karen Wheeler.
The new stars joining this rooster of overwhelming talent for Stranger Things Season 4 are Jamie Campbell Bower, Eduardo Franco, Joseph Quinn, Sherman Augustus, Mason Dye, Robert Englund, Nikola Djuricko, and Tom Wlaschiha.
As the production of Stranger Things Season 4 re-started in September 2020, we are keeping our fingers crossed that barring any further delays, the next chapter in the life of Eleven, Mike, and the gang manages to debut sometime in 2022.
