The Gossip Girl reboot teaser is here and has got fans super pumped!
“You’ve gotten so comfortable — thinking you’re in control of your image, your actions, the narrative — that you forgot one thing: I can see you,” she says in her classic sweet but notorious tone. “And before I’m through, I’ll make sure you see you, too.”
“XOXO,” she said towards the end in her signature style.
What’s more, along with the teaser, HBO Max also revealed the premiere date of the Gossip Girl reboot. The gossip maven, the Upper East Siders, and their messes, drama, secrets, and romances — you’ll get to witness all of it from July 8!
“Bet you’re excited to see me back in action. Don’t forget I’ve got my eye on you too,” the show’s official account tweeted. “See you July 8. XOXO, Gossip Girl.”
Not much has been revealed about the plot of the Gossip Girl reboot. However, we do know that it’s set nine years after the events of the original series, which ended with the titular blogger’s site going dormant.
Now, a new generation of NYC private school teens has come into the picture. The revival will follow their lives — as the Gossip Girl website goes up again — and will show how the landscape of social media and the city itself has changed over the years.
The first season will have 10 one-hour episodes.
Besides the teaser, HBO Max also released posters of the reboot’s cast with Gossip Girl’s “XOXO” painted on them. The show stars Jordan Alexander, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Tavi Gevinson, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Zion Moreno, Whitney Peak, and Savannah Lee Smith.
Joshua Safran — who wrote and executive produced the final seasons of the original show — showruns the reboot. Original executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will play the same role again.
“We’ve reached out to all of them to let them know it was happening,” he told reporters at the Television Critics Association.
“We’d love for them to be involved if they want to be involved, but certainly didn’t want to make it contingent. They played these characters for six years, and if they felt like they were good with that, we want to respect that. But obviously, it would be great to see them again.”
The Gossip Girl reboot premieres on HBO Max on July 8. Can you wait to experience the glossy mess?
