The actress’s upcoming acting gig
Grace McKenna joins the cast of “A Friend Of The Family”, a true-crime limited series exclusively on Peacock TV. The series is based on the bone-chilling real-life story of the Broberg family, whose daughter had been kidnapped several times in a row over a period of a few years by the psychopathic, narcissistic, obsessive, and charming family “friend” named Robert Berchtold. Jan herself and her mother have co-produced the limited series.
The 15-year-old actress has been cast alongside Anna Paquin from True Blood, Jake Lacy from The White Lotus, Colin Hanks from The Offer, and Lio Tipton from Why Women Kill.
What is the series about?
“The Brobergs — devoted to their faith, family, and community — were utterly unprepared for the sophisticated tactics their neighbor used to exploit their vulnerabilities, drive them apart, and turn their daughter against them,” wrote Peacock in the series teaser. “This is the story of how their lives were permanently altered — and how they survived,” they added.
Grace Mckenna will be playing the role of a grown-up Jan. According to Bob and Mary Ann Broberg’s eldest daughter’s character profile, Jan “leads a happy traditional life in an idyllic American city. Jan trusts family friend and neighbor Robert Berchtold, though he has plans for her abduction that she doesn’t suspect.” Anna Paquin and Colin Hanks are set to play the role of Jan’s parents while Jake Lacy will play the role of the antagonist Robert. Tipton will play the role of Gail Berchtold, the villain’s wife and mother of their children.
The other personnel of the upcoming series
The series has been written and executive produced by Nick Antosca under his production banner Eat the Cat. He is also the showrunner. The series is a joint venture between him and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group. Alex Hedlund is also set to executive produce the series. Eliza Hittman will be directing the pilot and multiple other episodes along with acting as the third executive producer.
The Broberg family tragedy was first compiled in a Netflix documentary titled Abducted In Plain Sight. The director of that documentary, Skye Borgman, will also act as the consulting producer for Top Knot Films.
Grace McKenna’s other acting ventures
Grace McKenna has established herself in the acting world as a budding star. Already having secured an Emmy nomination for her role as the young wife Mrs. Keys on Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, Grace has proven herself to be one of the youngest actresses to ever receive a nomination in that particular category. Recently, she starred in Sony’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife and will also be acting in Disney+’s latest adventure movie titled Crater. She is also set to star in Lifetime’s upcoming sequel to The Bad Seed after having starred in the lead role of the original 2018 movie. She co-wrote the film with her father Ross Burge.
