Ever since the Duffer Brothers, showrunners of the famed Netflix fiction-horror series Stranger Things, dropped a teaser of its Season 4 on 14th February 2020 (the best Valentine’s day gift ever. Period), fans of the show have been in hopes of being blessed with whatever mind-boggling phenomenon happens next in the enigmatic city of Hawkins.
What is the official release date?
Filming for Stranger Things season four was to be concluded by August 5th, 2020. However, in March, Netflix confirmed that filming of the series had been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
And it is kinda confirmed that Stranger Things Season 4 is not getting ready this year as the series’ IMDb page list the first episode of Season 4, titled: “Chapter One: The Hellfire Club”, with 2021 as the release date.
What is Stranger Things season 4 be about?
We last saw Joyce, Will, Jonathan, and Eleven, mourning Hopper’s death and packing up their home in Hawkins into a removal van, ready to move away. This means a long-distance relationship for Jonathan and Nancy, who reconciled in Season 3.
So, Season 4 will see the gang separated, but they will eventually come together as “back in the States, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long-buried, something that connects everything…,” shared by series creators Matt and Ross Duffer.
Eleven seemingly lost her powers, the upcoming season will explore the effects and ramifications of the same. Also, Hopper is alive (as seen in the teaser *dances around*) and will be seen “imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, Russia, where he will face dangers both human… and others”.
Plot details we know so far:
- Stranger Things Season 4 to have 9 episodes and an “origin story” of a “fan-favorite” character, who is likely to be Hooper!
As reported by TVLine, Season four could consist of 9 episodes. And as David Harbour has revealed that a “big, huge reveal” about his character, Hooper’s backstory will be made in the upcoming season, the “fan-favorite” character appears to be Hopper. And FYI, it is going to be related to the three boxes- labeled ‘Dad’, ‘Vietnam’, and ‘New York’- Eleven found in Hopper’s attic.
- Season 4 is going to be the scariest of all seasons!
“I think that this year — and I know I say this every single year — but this is definitely going to be a lot scarier than prior years, because last year was pretty dark,” shared by Keery, a.k.a. Steve Harrington.
Stunt boss Hiro Koda has also confirmed that Stranger Things Season 4 will be “darker”.
- “We are not in Hawkins anymore…”
If the teaser released on 30th September last year, which said the haunting lines, wasn’t enough, the Duffers brothers have also revealed season four is “going to open up” to “areas outside of Hawkins”.
And given the teaser trailer, it looks like Russia is gonna dominate Season 4.
