That ’70s Show star Wilmer Valderrama revealed on the Kelly Clarkson Show that he owns the iconic Vista Cruiser station wagon from the beloved sitcom and he is proud of it.
Wilder Valderrama who is known for his role as the flirtatious teen, Fez from the sitcom That ’70s Show came on the Kelly Clarkson Show. He talked to “The Voice” judge and the eponymous host in a socially-distanced “DRIVE-INterview” about his passion for cars and it was there that he revealed a shocking fact about one ride in particular.
Wilmer Valderrama arrived at the drive-in theatre in his beautiful 1967 Black Mustang while Kelly Clarkson arrived in her yellow Ford truck. Right away he started talking about his passion for collecting rides, saying that “That’s my thing. When I was a little kid, I just thought to myself, if I ever get to a point where I can get that car that just sits in the garage with the battery dead where you don’t just move it, you know.” This made Kelly laugh and then she went on to ask him about the iconic station wagon of that 70’s show and what happened to it after the show ended in 2006.
To which Wilmer Valderrama said that he actually bought the Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser station wagon during the last season of That 70’s Show.
“I got the Vista Cruiser. It was towards the end of the show, we were in the last season of ’70s Show and I went straight to the props department and I go, ‘Listen, how much for the Vista Cruiser?’ He goes, ‘What? You don’t want that thing.’ And I go, ‘Yes, I do. I need the Vista Cruiser,'” Valderrama also added that “And they said $500. So I bought the Vista Cruiser for $500 from the props department.”
Why Did Wilmer Valderrama buy the That ’70s Show car?
It is sure, that to Wilmer Valderrama the value of the Vista Cruiser was a lot more than those 500 bucks with which he bought it. The wagon is iconic due to its appearances in that ’70s Show’s opening song “Cheap Trick – Out In The Street” in all of its 8 seasons. In the show, the station wagon was owned by Topher Grace’s lead character Eric Foreman and even now Wilmer is still happy that he made the decision to purchase it due to the sheer nostalgia that comes with it.
“Honestly, it’s the best thing I’ve ever acquired. My whole career, when I look at that car, it reminds me of when I was 17, 18 years old, booking That ’70s Show and doing that opening sequence where we’re just driving in the street,” the actor said. “Honestly, it’s gonna be in my family forever. I’m going to put it in my will and make sure my kids have the burden of keeping that car in the garage.”
Wilmer made an appearance in Justin Bieber’s “Holy” music video, where his character of a kind soldier was a complete far cry from his character of Fez in That ’70s Show.
