The Ellen DeGeneres show is back on air after the host was tested positive during December for the deadly COVID-19 virus. The Ellen DeGeneres show’s first episode of 2021 got aired on New Year’s week, where she talked about her recovering journey and how she managed to stay healthy in tough times.
Ellen DeGeneres also thanked her fans for all the love and support they showed to her while she was fighting the virus.
The 62-year old host was seen in her casual-formal attire with a brown jacket and white shirt along with a pair of light denim jeans. She jokingly talked about her covid condition and said, “There’s a lot of negativity going on, so I thought we’d talk about something positive, my covid test. I tested positive before the holidays, I’m all good now. I want to thank everyone who reached out with kind words of support. I wish I could have hugged all of you, but that would have been dangerous and illegal.”
The Ellen DeGeneres Show got canceled in December
Ellen DeGeneres’ show was forced to get canceled in December due to the COVID-19 positive result of Ellen. She also thanked the studio audience who attended her 12 Days of Giveaways. She revealed that she got to know about her test results just before the start of the show from her assistant Craig.
“Thank you to the audience who have come back, you were supposed to be in the audience in December but we had to cancel.”
“I was getting ready for the show that you were supposed to be in, my extensions put in and my face powdered. And my assistant Craig came in and said you’ve tested positive for coronavirus. Then everyone around me ran away. People really just get scared and ran, some have not been back since. I left immediately and everyone was informed.”
Ellen talked about living with her wife Portia and her medications
Ellen also shared how she felt living with her wife, Portia de Rossi during these tough times, “Portia made me sleep in a different room on a different bed because she wanted the raised car bed all to herself. So for the first three days, I slept for 16 hours a day, then the fourth day I woke up with back spasms so thought I’d pulled a muscle or slept funny.”
She also talked about how the medications affected her. Ellen had massive back pains during covid. Hence, she also gave everyone an insight into it.
“But it persisted so the doctor put me on pain killers and muscle relaxers – jackpot! Finally, this thing is paying off. The pain killers didn’t help, it felt like I had cracked a rib. So they put me on a steroid pack, but they make you really speedy and edgy.”
‘So I stayed on all of it, pain killers, muscle relaxers, and steroids – not sure if that’s the best way, I’m not a doctor. I’m still on them, I find the relaxers helpful. I spoke to my brother and told him about the back pain, he had a friend with the same then and then I spoke to several other people. So now apparently back pain is a symptom of covid. Now you know! It’s the only symptom I had.”
While The Ellen DeGeneres Show spread smiles to the faces of most of the people by their deeds. The host is also among the list of the survivors of the virus and does everything to help and motivate the people who are going through the illness. Ellen is still confused as to how she got the virus as she always followed the norms.
“I started to feel better so I’m very fortunate and feeling okay now. I don’t know how I got it, I wear a mask and wash my hands, and only licked three door handles. To the people struggling with the illness right now, my heart goes out to them.”
The Ellen DeGeneres Show also had a special guest, neurosurgeon and CNN chief medical correspondent, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, who talked about the Covid-19 virus.
Ellen made an announcement on her social media when she was detected of the virus asking people to get tested who have been in contact with her. Last year saw a lot of struggle for the star from allegations on the show to the massive firing of employees.
We hope that this year Ellen DeGeneres’ show makes a come back and start spreading positivity like before.
