Ariana Grande is having a lot of fun with her first season as a coach on The Voice. What makes her time on the show even more exciting is the fact that longtime friend, Ed Sheeran, is the season 21 Mega Mentor!
The 30-year-old English singer-songwriter joined Ariana, 28, as the Knockouts round began on the NBC singing competition show. And they kicked it off by enquiring about their married life.
“I’m so excited you’re here. Hi,” Ariana said as she hugged him. “Nice to see you. And you’re married now?,” Ed asked. “I am. You as well?,” Ariana answered. “Yeah. We had a kid,” Ed confirmed.
To which Ariana said, “That is so exciting.”
The GRAMMY winner and wife Cherry Seaborn welcomed their first child, a daughter named Lyra Antarctica, last fall.
In a promo of The Voice, Ariana was also seen heaping praises over Sheeran as she called him a “brilliant songwriter.”
While Sheeran’s appearance on The Voice has been pre-recorded, the singer currently has been quarantining as he tested positive for COVID-19. The 30-year-old singer recently confirmed his diagnosis through a statement on Instagram.
Ariana Grande and Ed Sheeran’s friendship goes back to 2012.
“Back when I had red hair…He was at my manager’s office, just hanging and playing music. He (Ed Sheeran) is a brilliant songwriter,” Ariana Grande recalled.
“I’ve known Ariana for a long, long time,” Ed added. “We’ve worked together on songs in the past, we’ve jammed. It’s gonna be a good first season for her, I think.”
For the show, Ariana brought color and shine to this week’s episode of “The Voice.”
Arriving on set for the “Knockout Rounds,” the songstress opted for a bright blue bustier crop top with a deep neck and matching skirt set. The crop top featured puffed sleeves with crystal trim.
To give the outfit a monochrome finish, Grande wore sky-high electric blue heels.
Last week, a source told ET that Ari has been loving her first season on The Voice so far.
“She has looked up to the coaches for a while and she and Kelly have really formed a strong friendship,” the source noted. “Ariana loves that this allows people to see her talents beyond her singing — she’s a writer and producer, and very knowledgeable about music. [She] is also having fun and loves joking around with the coaches.”
