The Oscars have announced the first round of presenters, which includes a list of 15 former Academy Award winners and nominees, except one.
Who will we see at the 93rd Oscars?
The cast presenting the coveted award includes Zendaya (star of “Malcolm & Marie”), Brad Pitt (Supporting Actor Winner for 2019’s “Once Upon a Time in…Hollywood”), Halle Berry (Actress Winner for 2001’s “Monster’s Ball”), Angela Bassett (Nominee for 1993’s “What’s Love Got to Do With It”), Bong Joon Ho (Best Director Winner for 2019’s “Parasite”), Joaquin Phoenix (Actor Winner for 2019’s “Joker”), Don Cheadle (Actor Nominee for 2004’s “Hotel Rwanda”), Bryan Cranston (Actor Nominee for 2015’s “Trumbo”), Laura Dern (Supporting Actress Winner for 2019’s “Marriage Story”), Harrison Ford (Actor nominee for 1985’s “Witness”), Regina King (Supporting Actress Winner for 2018’s “If Beale Street Could Talk”), Reese Witherspoon (Actress Winner for 2005’s “Walk the Line”) Marlee Matlin (Actress Winner for 1986’s “Children of a Lesser God”), and Rita Moreno (Supporting Actress Winner for 1961’s “West Side Story”).
Understandably, Joaquin Phoenix, Renee Zellweger, Brad Pitt, and Laura Dern will present the categories for which they won last year. Director Bong Joon Ho will hand the Oscar for Best Director.
The producers for the Award ceremony Jesse Collins, Stacey Sher, and Steven Soderbergh gave in to the excitement by saying, “In keeping with our awards-show-as-a-movie approach, we’ve assembled a truly stellar cast of stars. There’s so much wattage here, sunglasses may be required.”
A promo released by the Academy suggested that the “Oscars presented as a movie approach” for this year’s ceremony. It will be interesting to see what the show brings this year after the onset of Covid-19 pandemic. For now, we will have to do with the exciting names revealed, as the additional talent joining the show will be announced at a later date.
The Oscars will be held on April 25 at Union Station Los Angeles, the Dolby Theatre, and international locations are yet to be announced.
